Budafoki MTE and Dunaharaszti MTK served up a six-goal thriller in the Hungary Nemzeti Bajnokság III on Saturday, with the visitors running out 4-2 winners after a breathless second half. Dunaharaszti’s clinical finishing proved the difference in a match that swung one way and then the other, leaving Budafoki to rue a defensive collapse after a bright start.

Match Overview

The game exploded into life early. Budafoki MTE took the lead in the 12th minute when their striker pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired home from close range. The home crowd barely had time to settle before Dunaharaszti equalised in the 21st minute, a neat move down the left ending with a low cross that was tapped in at the back post. Budafoki regained the lead in the 34th minute with a stunning 25-yard strike that flew into the top corner. At half-time, the hosts led 2-1 and looked in control.

Key Moments

The second half was a different story. Dunaharaszti came out with renewed intensity and equalised for the second time in the 52nd minute, capitalising on a defensive mix-up to slot into an empty net. Ten minutes later, they took the lead for the first time when their winger cut inside and curled a beautiful effort into the far corner. Budafoki pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but they were caught on the counter-attack in the 78th minute, Dunaharaszti’s striker finishing coolly for his second goal of the game. Budafoki threw bodies forward late on, but the visitors held firm.

Tactical Story

Budafoki MTE started with a high press and looked to overwhelm Dunaharaszti’s midfield, but as the game wore on, their energy levels dropped and gaps began to appear. Dunaharaszti’s manager made a key tactical adjustment at half-time, switching to a 4-2-3-1 that allowed his team to control the centre of the pitch and launch quick counter-attacks. Budafoki’s back four struggled with the pace of Dunaharaszti’s forwards, and their inability to track runners from midfield proved costly. The visitors’ ruthlessness in front of goal was the decisive factor.

Standout Players

Dunaharaszti’s striker was the star of the show, scoring twice and leading the line with intelligence and power. Their winger also tormented the Budafoki defence all evening, scoring a superb goal and providing an assist. For Budafoki, the midfielder who scored the spectacular second goal was their best player, driving forward and creating chances. However, the home side’s defensive unit will want to forget this performance, having conceded four goals in a league match for the first time this season.

Table and Season Impact

The victory lifts Dunaharaszti MTK into the promotion conversation, just a few points off the top spots in Nemzeti Bajnokság III. For Budafoki MTE, the defeat is a setback that leaves them looking over their shoulder at the teams below them. With the season still wide open, both clubs have plenty to play for. Dunaharaszti will be buoyed by their attacking display, while Budafoki must tighten up defensively if they are to climb the table. The return fixture later in the campaign promises to be another entertaining affair.
