Békéscsaba 0-1 Sándorfalvi: Visitors Snatch Narrow NB III Win

Békéscsaba were beaten 0-1 by Sándorfalvi in Hungary’s Nemzeti Bajnokság III on October 3, 2026, as a single second-half goal decided a tight and hard-fought contest. The visitors defended bravely and took their one clear chance, leaving Békéscsaba to rue a lack of cutting edge in front of goal.

The match was played at 19:00 and developed into a tactical battle. Békéscsaba saw more of the ball, especially in the first half, but Sándorfalvi’s compact defensive block limited them to mostly long-range efforts. The decisive moment came in the 74th minute, when Sándorfalvi broke forward and scored the only goal of the game.

Match Overview

Békéscsaba started with purpose, moving the ball from side to side and looking to isolate their wingers against the full-backs. Sándorfalvi sat deep, defended in numbers, and looked to counter through quick forwards. The first half produced few clear chances, with both goalkeepers largely untroubled.

After the break, Békéscsaba increased the tempo and pushed more players forward. That pressure left gaps at the back, and Sándorfalvi exploited one in the 74th minute. The visitors then dropped even deeper, clearing everything and protecting their lead until the final whistle.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute: Békéscsaba’s first real chance is headed wide from a corner.
• 39th minute: Sándorfalvi’s goalkeeper makes a sharp save from a low shot.
• 58th minute: Békéscsaba hit the side-netting after a quick break.
• 74th minute: Sándorfalvi score the winning goal with a clinical finish on the counter.
• 89th minute: Békéscsaba send a late free-kick over the bar.

Tactical Story

Sándorfalvi’s game plan was clear: defend compactly, stay patient, and attack with speed when the opportunity arose. Their midfield dropped into a narrow line, making it difficult for Békéscsaba to play through the centre. The back four stayed disciplined and won most of the aerial duels.

Békéscsaba struggled to break down the low block. Their crosses were often too close to the goalkeeper, and their midfielders were forced to shoot from distance. The home side’s best moments came from set-pieces, but they could not find an equaliser.

Standout Players

Sándorfalvi’s goalscorer was the obvious hero, but the goalkeeper and the two centre-backs were equally important. They dealt with constant pressure and kept a clean sheet. For Békéscsaba, the central midfielder worked tirelessly and tried to drive the team forward, but the attack lacked sharpness in the final third.

Season Impact

Sándorfalvi take a valuable three points away from a difficult ground, strengthening their position in the NB III standings. Békéscsaba remain frustrated by a home defeat in a match they largely controlled. The result is a reminder that in the third tier, taking chances and defending set situations can decide the difference between a draw and a defeat.
