Tactical Story

Újpest used a possession-based approach, with their full-backs pushing high to stretch Zalaegerszegi’s defence. The visitors sat deep and looked to counter, which worked well in the second half when they found space behind Újpest’s advanced full-backs. The equaliser came from exactly that pattern.

For Zalaegerszegi TE, Tamás Kiss took his goal well and caused problems on the break, while their goalkeeper made several important saves before the late winner. Újpest’s captain also deserves credit for keeping the team calm after the equaliser.

Zalaegerszegi TE remain in a competitive mid-table battle and will rue the late lapse that cost them a point.
