Match overview

This was everything a neutral could have wanted: five goals, two comebacks and a finish that only arrived in the closing stages. Zalaegerszegi TE Women began brightly and took an early lead, but Veszprem FC Women responded with real character, levelling before half-time and again in the second period.

With the game seemingly heading for a draw, the hosts found one final push. The winning goal arrived in the final stretch, prompting celebrations on the bench and a long, frustrating journey home for the visitors.

Tactical story

Zalaegerszegi TE Women set up to attack quickly and looked most dangerous when they could get the ball wide and deliver early. Their midfield pressed aggressively, forcing turnovers high up the pitch and creating the chances that produced the opening goal.

Veszprem FC Women grew into the game after conceding, switching to a more patient build-up and finding joy through the inside channels. Twice they responded to setbacks with genuine attacking quality, but the defensive lapses at key moments — particularly from set pieces and crosses into the box — ultimately cost them a point.

Standout performers

The hosts' attacking players carried the threat throughout, with the forward who scored the opening goal outstanding in her hold-up play and link-up with the midfield. The player who converted from the spot showed nerve at a crucial moment, and the goalscorer who struck the 86th-minute winner will remember the evening for a long time.

For Veszprem FC Women, the left-sided attacker who scored the first equaliser was the game's most creative presence, repeatedly beating her marker, while their goalkeeper made two excellent saves to keep the contest alive into its final minutes.

What it means

Victory in such a high-scoring, emotionally draining match is worth more than three points alone. Zalaegerszegi TE Women demonstrated resilience — twice pegged back, twice responding — and that character could prove valuable as the campaign develops.

Veszprem FC Women leave with nothing but plenty of encouragement from an away performance full of attacking ambition. Tightening up defensively in the closing stages is the obvious lesson for a side that looked capable of taking a result from one of the division's stronger teams.
