Zalaegerszegi TE Women secured a convincing 3-1 victory over FC Nagykanizsa Women in the HUN D2E W on 12 September 2026. Three goals and a composed second-half performance gave the hosts a deserved three points and underlined their credentials as one of the stronger sides in the Hungarian women's second tier.

Match Overview

Cheered on by a home crowd at the ZTE training centre, Zalaegerszegi TE Women started brightly and established control of the midfield from the opening exchanges. Their movement off the ball caused persistent problems for the Nagykanizsa back line, and the pressure eventually told with a well-taken opening goal.

FC Nagykanizsa Women responded with a goal of their own, briefly threatening to turn the contest into a tight affair, but the home side's greater composure in possession and sharper finishing in the final third proved decisive over the full 90 minutes.

Key Moments

• First goal: Zalaegerszegi TE Women opened the scoring after sustained pressure, finishing neatly from inside the area.
• Nagykanizsa reply: The visitors hit back with a goal that briefly levelled the momentum of the match.
• Regaining the lead: The hosts restored their advantage before the break with a strike that capped a fluent attacking move.
• Sealing the win: A third goal in the second half removed any lingering doubt and confirmed a 3-1 victory.

Tactical Story

Zalaegerszegi TE Women played with width and patience, using their full-backs to stretch the opposition and creating overloads that repeatedly opened up crossing angles. Their midfield trio combined well, winning second balls and recycling possession quickly to keep the pressure on.

FC Nagykanizsa Women set up to defend in numbers and counter through their wide attackers. The plan worked in patches — their goal came from exactly that kind of rapid transition — but they struggled to sustain possession and were gradually worn down by the home side's relentless pressing.

Standout Performers

Zalaegerszegi TE Women's attacking players shared the scoring duties, with the forward line linking intelligently throughout. The central midfielder who controlled the tempo was arguably the best player on the pitch, dictating when to slow the game down and when to accelerate.

For FC Nagykanizsa Women, the goalscorer was their brightest spark, while the goalkeeper made a string of saves that kept the margin from growing further. Their captain's work rate in midfield was a positive note on an otherwise difficult afternoon.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Zalaegerszegi TE Women's position heading into the next round of fixtures in the HUN D2E W, adding both points and confidence to a squad with ambitions of climbing the division. Consistent home form is often the foundation of a promotion push, and this performance fits that template.

FC Nagykanizsa Women, meanwhile, will look to tighten up defensively. Their attacking threat was evident, but conceding three goals on the road highlights the gap between them and the division's stronger outfits.
