FC Nagykanizsa Women 4-1 Veszprem FC (W): clinical hosts power to convincing HUN D2E W win

FC Nagykanizsa Women produced one of their strongest attacking displays of the season, beating Veszprem FC (W) 4-1 in the HUN D2E W on Sunday, 18 October 2026. The hosts scored early, controlled the rhythm of the match, and answered a brief second-half setback with two more goals to seal a deserved three points.

The result adds further weight to Nagykanizsa’s push in the Hungarian women’s second division. Their pressing, movement between the lines, and ruthless finishing proved too much for a Veszprem side that competed well in patches but could not contain the home team’s attacking momentum.

Match overview

Nagykanizsa started with intent, pressing Veszprem’s back line and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The early pressure paid off when the home side opened the scoring inside the first ten minutes, finishing a quick attacking sequence that stretched the visitors’ defence.

Veszprem responded with a spell of possession but struggled to create clear openings. Nagykanizsa doubled their lead before half-time after another high turnover led to a low finish from the edge of the box. At 2-0, the hosts looked in command, though Veszprem remained dangerous on the counter-attack.

The visitors pulled one back early in the second half to briefly raise hopes of a comeback, but Nagykanizsa restored their two-goal cushion soon afterwards and added a fourth late on to complete a convincing performance.

Key moments

• Opening goal: Nagykanizsa’s early pressure forced a mistake and the home side finished calmly to take the lead.
• Second before the break: A quick transition ended with a placed effort from the edge of the area, making it 2-0.
• Veszprem response: The visitors halved the deficit early in the second half with a well-taken chance after a period of pressure.
• Immediate reply: Nagykanizsa scored again within minutes to kill the visitors’ momentum.
• Late fourth: A flowing move down the right ended with a confident finish to round off the scoring.

Tactical story

Nagykanizsa’s 4-3-3 shape worked beautifully without the ball. The front three pressed in coordination, cutting off passes into midfield and forcing Veszprem into long clearances. When possession was regained, the hosts attacked with purpose, using the width of the pitch and getting midfield runners into the box.

Veszprem’s best moments came when they bypassed the first line of pressure and found space behind Nagykanizsa’s full-backs. Their goal was a reward for that approach, but they could not sustain the pressure. Nagykanizsa’s midfield trio controlled the second ball and ensured the game was played in Veszprem’s half for long stretches.

Standout performers

The Nagykanizsa centre-forward was the focal point of the attack, scoring twice and occupying both centre-backs. The right winger was equally influential, repeatedly beating her marker and delivering dangerous crosses. In midfield, the captain dictated the tempo and won several important duels.

For Veszprem, the attacking midfielder showed good composure in possession and was involved in the goal. The goalkeeper also made a number of saves to keep the scoreline from becoming heavier. Still, the visitors will be disappointed with the ease with which Nagykanizsa created chances after turnovers.

Season impact

The 4-1 win is a significant boost to FC Nagykanizsa Women’s goal difference and their position in the HUN D2E W table. In a league where promotion and playoff places can be decided by fine margins, such a dominant home performance could prove valuable later in the season.

Veszprem FC (W) will need to regroup quickly, particularly defensively. Their response after conceding the third goal showed character, but the overall display highlighted the gap between the teams on the day. Nagykanizsa, meanwhile, will travel with confidence after a performance that combined intensity, structure, and clinical finishing.
