Kecskemeti TE produced a ruthless away performance to beat Tiszaujvaros 4-0 in the Hungarian Cup on Wednesday, 28 October 2026. The visitors scored early, controlled the middle periods of the match and added further goals after the break to secure a convincing place in the next round.

Match overview

Kecskemeti TE set the tone from the opening minutes. Rather than sitting back in a cup away fixture, the visitors pressed high, forced Tiszaujvaros into hurried clearances and recycled the ball quickly in the final third. The early pressure was rewarded with an opening goal, and from that point the match took on a clear pattern: Kecskemeti dictating play, Tiszaujvaros struggling to build sustained attacks.

Tiszaujvaros tried to respond through direct runs and set pieces, but they found it difficult to keep possession long enough to relieve pressure. Kecskemeti’s midfield won most of the second balls, and their defenders stepped forward aggressively to cut out passes before they could reach the home side’s forwards. The 4-0 scoreline reflected the visitors’ superiority in both boxes.

Key moments

The breakthrough came early when Kecskemeti won the ball in a dangerous area and moved it quickly into the penalty box. A composed finish gave the visitors a lead and immediately changed the mood of the tie. Tiszaujvaros briefly threatened from a corner, but Kecskemeti’s goalkeeper dealt with the danger comfortably.

Kecskemeti doubled the advantage before half-time after a patient attacking move. The ball was worked from midfield to the right flank, and a low cross was converted at the near post. That second goal gave the visitors breathing room and forced Tiszaujvaros to take more risks after the interval.

The third goal arrived early in the second half, effectively ending the contest. Kecskemeti’s midfielder arrived late in the box and finished a rebound after the home goalkeeper had made the initial save. The fourth came late on, with a substitute forward racing through on goal and finishing calmly to complete the scoring.

Tactical story

Kecskemeti TE’s pressing structure was the foundation of the win. Their forwards angled their runs to cut off passes into midfield, while the wide players jumped forward to press the full-backs. That approach forced Tiszaujvaros into long balls and hurried turnovers, which Kecskemeti repeatedly turned into attacking transitions.

In possession, Kecskemeti were direct but controlled. They did not overplay in their own half, instead looking for quick combinations between midfield and attack. The movement of the front three created space for late runners, and the midfield trio dominated the central areas. Tiszaujvaros, by contrast, struggled to connect their defensive and attacking phases, leaving their forwards isolated for long stretches.

Standout performers

Kecskemeti’s centre-forward led the line impressively, holding the ball up and creating space for teammates. The attacking midfielder was equally influential, linking play and arriving in the box for the third goal. At the back, the visiting centre-backs dealt comfortably with Tiszaujvaros’s aerial threat and ensured there was no route back into the match.

For Tiszaujvaros, the goalkeeper made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat, while the captain tried to drive the team forward from midfield. However, the home side lacked the cutting edge needed to trouble a well-organised Kecskemeti defence.

What the result means

The 4-0 win is a statement of intent from Kecskemeti TE in the Hungarian Cup. It gives the squad confidence, keeps momentum going and allows the coaching staff to manage minutes in the next round. For Tiszaujvaros, the cup exit is a disappointment, but the league campaign now becomes the clear priority. The match will be remembered for Kecskemeti’s clinical finishing and relentless pressing.
