Pecsi MFC produced a stirring second-half comeback to beat Kisvárda Master Good FC 4-2 in the Hungary Cup on 29 October 2026, turning a half-time deficit into a six-goal cup classic. The hosts trailed 2-1 at the break but scored three times after the restart to secure a memorable win at PMFC Stadion.

Match overview

Kisvárda started the brighter of the two sides and took the lead in the 12th minute with a well-worked move down the right. Pecsi responded positively and equalised just after the half-hour mark, only for the visitors to restore their advantage shortly before half-time. At 2-1 down, the home side needed a reaction, and they got one.

The second half was a different story. Pecsi pushed their midfield higher, moved the ball quicker and began to pin Kisvárda back. The equaliser arrived in the 58th minute, the go-ahead goal came in the 74th, and the fourth was added in the 89th minute as the visitors ran out of legs. It was a dramatic turnaround that underlined Pecsi’s attacking depth and Kisvárda’s difficulty in managing the game after the break.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Kisvárda opened the scoring with a low finish after a quick move on the right.
• 31st minute: Pecsi equalised with a first-time strike from the edge of the area.
• 43rd minute: Kisvárda regained the lead after a defensive lapse in the Pecsi box.
• 58th minute: Pecsi made it 2-2 with a composed finish following a sustained spell of pressure.
• 74th minute: The hosts took the lead for the first time, converting from close range after a corner.
• 89th minute: Pecsi sealed the win with a fourth goal on the counter.

Tactical story

Pecsi’s first-half performance was too passive, allowing Kisvárda to find space between the lines and counter effectively. The half-time adjustment changed the game: Pecsi switched to a more aggressive 4-2-3-1 shape, pushed their wide players higher and asked their midfield to win the ball back quicker. That pressure forced Kisvárda into longer clearances and reduced their ability to build through midfield.

Kisvárda remained dangerous on the break and had chances to extend their lead, but as the game wore on their defensive block dropped deeper and deeper. Pecsi’s width stretched the visitors’ back line, and the home side’s set-piece threat added another dimension. The late fourth goal was no more than Pecsi deserved for their second-half control.

Standout performers

Pecsi’s attacking midfielder was at the heart of the comeback, linking play and creating chances with sharp passes in tight areas. The centre-forward led the line well, occupying defenders and scoring the crucial third goal. For Kisvárda, the right winger was their most dangerous outlet in the first half, but the visitors could not sustain that threat after the interval.

What it means

Pecsi MFC advance in the Hungary Cup with a performance that will boost belief, especially after coming from behind against a strong opponent. Kisvárda will be disappointed to have let a half-time lead slip, but the six-goal contest served as a reminder of how quickly cup ties can change. For Pecsi, the result is a statement of intent and a reward for their second-half ambition.
