Match overview

Deportivo Catocha controlled the match from the opening whistle, pressing high and forcing Deportivo Sanarate into repeated errors in possession. The home side created the better chances throughout and never looked in danger of surrendering their advantage. By the time the final whistle arrived, Catocha had registered a convincing 4-0 victory and underlined their credentials in the Guatemala Division 4 promotion race.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Carlos Méndez opened the scoring after Catocha won the ball back high up the pitch, finishing low into the corner.
• 34th minute: Luis Arriaza doubled the lead from close range after a dangerous cross from the right flank.
• 61st minute: Méndez converted a penalty to make it 3-0, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way after a foul inside the box.
• 78th minute: Substitute Bryan Pineda sealed the victory with a header from a corner, completing the scoring at 4-0.

Sanarate’s best spell came early in the second half, but Catocha goalkeeper Óscar Lima dealt comfortably with the few shots that reached him. Any hope of a Sanarate comeback was extinguished by Méndez’s penalty and Pineda’s late header.

Tactical story

Catocha lined up with an aggressive 4-3-3, using their wide forwards to stretch Sanarate’s back line and their midfield trio to win second balls. The high press was particularly effective in the first half, forcing Sanarate into hurried clearances and creating turnovers in dangerous areas. Catocha also looked threatening from set pieces, with Pineda’s late header a reward for their delivery quality.

Sanarate struggled to build rhythm from the back and were often pinned deep in their own half. When they did break forward, Catocha’s defensive midfielders dropped quickly to protect the centre-backs. In the second half, Catocha managed the game well, slowing the tempo when needed and taking their chances with clinical efficiency.

Standout players

Carlos Méndez was the clear attacking standout, scoring twice and leading the press from the front. Luis Arriaza added a well-taken goal and worked tirelessly in the channels, while Bryan Pineda made an immediate impact from the bench. At the back, Óscar Lima kept a clean sheet and handled Sanarate’s limited threats with composure.

Table and season impact

The 4-0 win gives Deportivo Catocha three valuable points and a major lift in goal difference, strengthening their position in the Guatemala Division 4 standings. For Deportivo Sanarate, the result is a setback that leaves them searching for a response in their next fixture. Catocha’s ability to combine high pressing with ruthless finishing makes them a side to watch as the season progresses.
