Deportivo Mictlan Thrash AFF Guatemala 4-0 in Guatemala Division 2

Deportivo Mictlan produced a ruthless attacking display to defeat AFF Guatemala 4-0 in the Guatemala Division 2 on October 19. The home side scored early, controlled the rhythm of the match, and added further goals in the second half to complete a dominant victory.

Match Overview

Mictlan set the tone from the opening minutes, pressing high and forcing AFF Guatemala into rushed clearances. The early goal gave the home side confidence, and they continued to attack with width and purpose. AFF Guatemala tried to respond through direct balls forward, but Mictlan’s defense remained compact and won most of the second balls.

By half-time, Mictlan had a comfortable lead and complete control of the game. The second half brought more of the same: patient possession, quick combinations in the final third, and a steady stream of chances. AFF Guatemala’s resistance faded, and Mictlan added two more goals to turn the result into a statement win.

Key Moments

• Early opener: Mictlan’s high press forced a mistake, and the home side converted the first clear chance of the match.
• Second goal before half-time: A flowing move down the left ended with a driven cross and a close-range finish.
• Penalty after the break: Mictlan won a spot-kick after a foul in the box and converted confidently to make it 3-0.
• Late fourth goal: A substitute added the final touch after another quick attacking move, completing the scoring.

Tactical Story

Mictlan’s dominance was built on aggressive pressing and excellent use of the flanks. Their full-backs pushed high, stretching AFF Guatemala’s defense and creating space for midfield runners. The home side also won the midfield battle, recovering loose balls quickly and recycling possession with purpose.

AFF Guatemala struggled to cope with Mictlan’s intensity. Their attempts to play out from the back were often disrupted, and when they went long, Mictlan’s center-backs dealt comfortably with the aerial threat. The visitors’ few promising moments came from set pieces, but they could not find a consolation goal.

Standout Performers

Mictlan’s leading forward was the standout, scoring twice and constantly troubling the AFF Guatemala defense with his movement. The attacking midfielder dictated the tempo and provided the assist for the second goal, while the goalkeeper made one important first-half save to preserve the clean sheet. For AFF Guatemala, the goalkeeper prevented an even heavier defeat with several second-half stops.

What the Result Means

The 4-0 win strengthens Deportivo Mictlan’s position in the Guatemala Division 2 and gives them a significant boost to their goal difference. It also sends a warning to their promotion rivals: Mictlan can score from open play, set pieces, and penalties. For AFF Guatemala, the defeat highlights the need for better defensive organization and more composure under pressure.
