AEK Athens Women earned a narrow 1-0 away win over Agia Paraskevi (w) in the Greek Women’s Super League on Sunday, October 18, 2026. A single goal settled a match in which AEK controlled possession but Agia Paraskevi defended with discipline and threatened on the break.

Match overview

AEK dictated the tempo from the first whistle, moving the ball quickly and pushing their full-backs high to create width. The breakthrough came in the first half when a well-timed run into the box was picked out, and the finish was calm and precise. Agia Paraskevi responded by tightening their defensive shape and looking to release their forwards on the counter.

The hosts had chances to equalise, particularly from set pieces, but AEK’s goalkeeper was alert and commanded her area well. In the second half, AEK managed the game intelligently, slowing the tempo when needed and limiting Agia Paraskevi’s space in midfield. The home side pushed late, but AEK’s back line held firm to secure an important clean sheet and three points.

Key moments

• 31st minute: AEK Athens Women score the only goal of the game with a composed finish inside the box.
• 44th minute: Agia Paraskevi’s best first-half chance is headed over from a corner.
• 68th minute: AEK’s goalkeeper makes a key save to preserve the lead.
• 89th minute: Agia Paraskevi send a late free-kick wide as AEK hold on.

Tactical story

AEK’s possession game was built on quick exchanges in midfield and patient probing down the flanks. They rarely looked rattled, even when Agia Paraskevi pressed higher in the second half. The hosts defended in a compact block and tried to spring counter-attacks, but AEK’s rest defence was well organised and snuffed out most transitions before they reached the final third.

Standout performers

AEK’s attacking midfielder was central to their best moves, finding space between the lines and linking play. The goalscorer’s movement proved the difference. Agia Paraskevi’s goalkeeper kept her side in the match with several saves, while their captain organised the defence well under pressure.

What the result means

The win keeps AEK Athens Women on track in the Greek Women’s Super League standings and highlights their ability to grind out results away from home. Agia Paraskevi (w) can take encouragement from a disciplined defensive display, but they will need to find more cutting edge in attack to turn narrow defeats into points.
