AEK Athens Women delivered a commanding performance in the Greek Women's Super League on 27 September 2026, sweeping aside Seirines Grevenon Women 3-0. The home side were sharper, faster and more clinical throughout, and the margin of victory could have been even wider on another evening.

Match overview

AEK Athens Women came into the fixture with the clear intention of imposing their game early, and they did exactly that. High pressing, quick ball circulation and aggressive runs in behind the defence put Seirines Grevenon on the back foot from the opening minutes. The visitors, who had travelled with hopes of frustrating their hosts, found themselves defending deep for long periods.

The contest was effectively decided by AEK's dominance of the middle third. By winning the majority of duels and second balls, the home side ensured that Seirines Grevenon rarely had the chance to build any sustained possession of their own.

Key moments

• Opening goal: AEK took the lead with a well-worked move down the flank, finished confidently at the near post to settle any early nerves.
• Second goal: A quickly taken attack doubled the advantage, with the Seirines Grevenon defence unable to recover its shape in time.
• Third goal: The scoring was completed after the break, a composed finish capping another flowing team move and putting the result beyond doubt.
• Defensive solidity: AEK's back line and goalkeeper dealt comfortably with the few crosses and set pieces that came their way, keeping a clean sheet.

Tactical story

AEK Athens Women's tactical discipline was the standout feature of the match. Their forward players pressed in coordinated bursts, cutting off passing lanes and forcing Seirines Grevenon into long, hopeful clearances. When possession was regained, AEK moved the ball forward quickly, often in two or three passes, to catch the visiting defence before it could reorganise.

Seirines Grevenon worked hard and never stopped running, but they struggled to get their wide players into the game. Their best spell came early in the second half, when a couple of set pieces caused brief concern, but AEK weathered it and reasserted control almost immediately.

Standout players

AEK's attacking players were relentless, stretching the defence with intelligent movement and linking up neatly in the final third. The midfield trio set the tone with their energy and pressing, while the centre-backs were composed and authoritative throughout, snuffing out the few counter-attacks that developed.

For Seirines Grevenon, the goalkeeper made a number of saves to prevent a heavier defeat, and the midfield captain showed leadership in trying to slow the tempo and keep her team organised under sustained pressure.

What it means for the table

Three goals, three points and a clean sheet represent a near-perfect afternoon's work for AEK Athens Women. The result strengthens their position in the Greek Women's Super League and sends a message about their attacking capabilities. Seirines Grevenon will take encouragement from their resilience but must find a way to create more chances if they are to climb the standings.
