Atromitos Athens 0-0 AEK Athens — Atromitos Athens held AEK Athens to a 0-0 draw in the Greek Super League on October 18, 2026, producing a disciplined defensive performance that denied the visitors a crucial away victory.

AEK arrived as the stronger side on paper and controlled long stretches of the match, but Atromitos defended with concentration and limited the visitors to half-chances. The home team’s goalkeeper was central to the result, making several important saves as AEK pushed more players forward in the second half. At the other end, Atromitos threatened mainly from set pieces and quick transitions.

Match overview

The visitors dominated possession early, moving the ball side to side in an attempt to stretch Atromitos’ defensive block. Atromitos stayed compact, defended the penalty area well and forced AEK to shoot from distance. The game became more open after the break, but the final pass consistently eluded AEK in the moments that mattered.

Key moments

• 21st minute: AEK worked a shooting chance inside the box, but Atromitos’ goalkeeper saved low to his right.
• 38th minute: AEK had the ball in the net from a close-range finish, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
• 67th minute: Atromitos’ goalkeeper made his best save of the night, tipping a curling effort over the bar.
• 89th minute: Atromitos nearly stole the win with a header from a corner, but it landed on the roof of the net.

Tactical story

Atromitos set up with a deep, narrow block and invited AEK to play around them. That strategy reduced the space between the lines and made it hard for AEK’s creative players to receive the ball in dangerous areas. AEK’s width caused problems at times, but their crosses were often met by a crowded box. Atromitos’ counter-attacks were rare but purposeful, giving AEK something to think about at the back.

Standout performers

The Atromitos goalkeeper was the clear standout, combining shot-stopping with confident handling under pressure. Their central defenders also produced a strong collective display, winning key headers and blocking shots. For AEK, the midfield controller kept the ball moving well, while their centre-back was alert to Atromitos’ occasional breaks.

Standings and season impact

AEK will see this as two points dropped in the Greek Super League title race, especially given their control of possession and territory. Atromitos, by contrast, will take confidence from a clean sheet against one of the league’s strongest clubs. The result adds another tight chapter to the recent head-to-head record and underlines how difficult away fixtures can be in the Greek top flight.
