Kalibi SC Secure 1-0 Home Win Over Berekum City

Kalibi SC continued their solid form with a 1-0 victory over Berekum City in the Ghana Division 1 on Saturday, September 19, 2026. A solitary goal settled a competitive encounter, giving the home side all three points and handing Berekum City a narrow away defeat they will feel was avoidable.

Match Overview

The match began at a brisk tempo, with both teams showing plenty of ambition going forward. Kalibi SC looked to establish control through patient build-up play, while Berekum City — representing one of Ghana's traditional football towns — pressed aggressively in the middle third to disrupt their hosts' rhythm.

It was a game that ebbed and flowed. Kalibi SC enjoyed the better of the possession and created more meaningful openings; Berekum City carried a genuine threat on the counter and were dangerous from set pieces. In the end, one moment of quality proved decisive.

Key Moments

• The decisive goal: Kalibi SC broke the deadlock with a well-taken finish, capping a spell of pressure and giving the home crowd something to celebrate.
• Berekum City's response: The visitors pushed forward in search of an equaliser, winning corners and free kicks in dangerous areas but failing to find a telling touch.
• Game management: Kalibi SC slowed the tempo in the final fifteen minutes, keeping possession intelligently and limiting their opponents to hopeful deliveries into the box.

Tactical Story

Kalibi SC's midfield control was the foundation of their victory. By circulating the ball quickly and pulling Berekum City's midfield out of position, they created pockets of space between the lines for their advanced playmakers to exploit. The winning goal came from exactly that kind of pattern — patient build-up, a sharp final pass, and a composed finish.

Berekum City's approach was more vertical. They looked to bypass the midfield with early balls into the channels, using their strikers' movement to stretch the Kalibi SC defence. It worked in flashes, but there was too little end product when it mattered most.

Standout Performers

The goalscorer naturally takes the plaudits, but Kalibi SC's defensive midfielder was arguably the most influential player on the pitch, breaking up play and setting the tempo with clean, forward passing. The goalkeeper also contributed a crucial save at 1-0 to keep the lead intact.

For Berekum City, the central defenders were combative and won their share of duels, while their wide attackers provided the team's most consistent attacking outlet. The lack of a finishing touch, however, remained the story of their afternoon.

What It Means for the Table

The three points strengthen Kalibi SC's position in the Ghana Division 1 standings and reinforce their reputation as a tough team to beat at home. Winning narrowly is a skill in itself, and this was another example of a side that knows how to protect a lead.

Berekum City travel home with nothing to show for their efforts, but their performance offered evidence that the results will come if they sharpen up in the final third. In a division where the margins are famously slim, that is the challenge ahead.
