Tactical story

Anagenisi Artas looked dangerous going forward, especially in the first hour, with their wingers causing problems in one-on-one situations. However, they struggled to maintain defensive solidity after taking the lead. Makedonikos exploited the space between the lines and grew stronger as the match progressed.

Makedonikos’ substitutions made a difference, adding energy and fresh legs in midfield. Their set-piece delivery was also a constant threat, producing the second equaliser. Anagenisi’s decision to defend deeper late in the game invited pressure, and Makedonikos took full advantage.

Standout players

Kostas Vlachos was excellent for Makedonikos Siatistas, scoring the equaliser and winning several important duels. Nikos Theodorou’s late winner capped a lively cameo, while Thanasis Nikolaou controlled the midfield tempo. The visitors’ goalkeeper also made two important saves in the second half.

For Anagenisi Artas, Vasilis Kotsios and Dimitris Sotiriou both took their goals well, and the team’s attacking link-up play was impressive for long spells. The defensive unit, however, will review the late goal and the ease with which Makedonikos created chances from set pieces.

Season impact

The win lifts Makedonikos Siatistas in the GGE table and gives them momentum heading into their next fixture. Away wins in tight matches can define a season, and this performance showed character and composure under pressure. Anagenisi Artas will be disappointed to lose after leading twice, but their attacking display offers encouragement for the weeks ahead.

Both teams showed why the GGE is such a competitive environment. The result adds another twist to the early-season standings and underlines the importance of concentration until the final whistle.
