Ingolstadt 04 Women Beat SC Sand 2-0 with Controlled Display

Ingolstadt 04 Women secured a composed 2-0 home win over SC Sand Women in the German Women’s Bundesliga II on 25 October 2026. Goals in either half and a solid defensive performance gave the hosts a deserved three points.

Match Overview

Ingolstadt controlled the early exchanges with patient passing and intelligent movement off the ball. They broke the deadlock in the first half after sustained pressure, finishing a well-constructed move from the right side. SC Sand tried to respond before the break, but Ingolstadt’s back line stayed compact and limited clear sights of goal.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Ingolstadt managed the game well, kept possession in midfield, and doubled their lead after the hour mark with a goal that came from a quick transition. SC Sand pushed late in search of a route back into the match, but Ingolstadt’s goalkeeper and defence held firm for a clean sheet.

Key Moments

• 36th minute – Ingolstadt take the lead: A neat passing sequence opened space on the right, and the cross was converted with a first-time finish.
• 52nd minute – SC Sand’s best chance: A shot from distance forced a diving save from the Ingolstadt goalkeeper.
• 74th minute – Ingolstadt double the lead: A quick counter-attack ended with a composed finish inside the penalty area.
• 86th minute – Clean sheet secured: A dangerous SC Sand free-kick was headed clear as Ingolstadt saw out the closing minutes.

Tactical Story

Ingolstadt’s midfield dictated the rhythm of the match. They circulated the ball patiently, drew SC Sand into pressing traps, and then played through the gaps with quick vertical passes. The hosts also used their full-backs aggressively, stretching Sand’s defensive line and creating space for the inside forwards.

SC Sand defended with effort but struggled to maintain possession under pressure. Their best moments came from set-pieces and long-range efforts, but Ingolstadt’s organization in the defensive third was strong. The second goal was a perfect example of the hosts’ game plan: win the ball back, transition quickly, and finish with precision.

Standout Players

Ingolstadt’s centre-forward led the line well, holding up play and scoring the opening goal. The central midfielder was the engine of the team, breaking up attacks and linking defence with attack. For SC Sand, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the scoreline respectable, while their captain tried to drive the team forward from midfield.

Table and Season Impact

The three points strengthen Ingolstadt 04 Women’s position in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga standings and provide momentum for the next phase of the season. A clean sheet will be especially pleasing for the coaching staff, as it reflects the team’s balance between attacking control and defensive discipline. SC Sand, meanwhile, will look to regroup after a difficult away day, with the focus now on finding more consistency in possession and creating higher-quality chances.
