Stuttgart II 1-2 Alemannia Aachen: Late Winner Hands Visitors Three Points

VfB Stuttgart II suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat at home to Alemannia Aachen in the German 3. Liga on Saturday, October 24, 2026. A late goal from Tobias Lang settled a closely contested match and gave Aachen a valuable away victory in their bid to climb the table.

Match Overview

Aachen started strongly and took the lead in the 10th minute when Niklas Mohr finished a well-worked move down the right. Stuttgart II responded with patience, gradually growing into the game and equalising in the 33rd minute through Luca Kerber, who drove a low shot into the corner after a neat exchange on the edge of the box.

Both sides had chances in the second half, but it was Aachen who found the decisive moment. In the 76th minute, a quick break ended with Lang finishing from close range after a smart cut-back. Stuttgart II pushed for an equaliser but could not find a way through a disciplined Aachen defence.

Key Moments

• 10’ – Aachen 1-0: Mohr converted a low cross from the right.
• 33’ – Stuttgart II 1-1: Kerber equalised with a composed finish from the edge of the area.
• 58’ – Aachen save: The visiting goalkeeper made a strong stop to deny a close-range header.
• 76’ – Aachen 2-1: Lang finished a fast counter-attack with a close-range strike.

Tactical Story

Aachen’s experience showed in the key moments. They defended in a compact block, limited space between the lines, and attacked with purpose when turnovers occurred. Stuttgart II, fielding a youthful line-up, enjoyed long spells of possession but struggled to create clear chances against a well-drilled back four.

The home side’s best moments came when their midfielders played quick one-twos around the box, but those moves were too infrequent. Aachen’s willingness to counter at speed proved decisive, especially for the winning goal. Stuttgart II will take encouragement from their possession game, but the result highlights the need for greater cutting edge in the final third.

Standout Performers

Lang was the hero for Aachen with the winning goal, while Mohr’s early strike and the goalkeeper’s second-half save were equally important. Kerber was Stuttgart II’s brightest player, showing composure on the ball and scoring a well-taken equaliser. The home side’s young defenders will learn from the experience of facing a physically strong and tactically disciplined opponent.

Table Impact

The three points strengthen Aachen’s position in the 3. Liga and keep them within touching distance of the promotion places. Stuttgart II remain in the development-focused environment of the second team, but every result matters in a competitive division. For Aachen, the win is a sign of their ability to grind out away victories; for Stuttgart II, it is another lesson in the fine margins of senior football.
