Full-time: Borussia Mönchengladbach U19 1-2 Viktoria Köln U19

Viktoria Köln U19 produced a disciplined and resilient away performance to beat Borussia Mönchengladbach U19 2-1 in the GER JBH U19 competition on 25 October 2026. The visitors came from behind to take all three points, using a compact defensive shape and quick counter-attacks to punish the home side after the break.

Match overview

Mönchengladbach U19 started brightly and dictated the early rhythm, moving the ball quickly through midfield and asking questions of the Viktoria Köln back line. The hosts took the lead with a well-worked move, but Viktoria Köln responded impressively, equalising before half-time and then defending with greater composure after the restart.

Key moments

• Mönchengladbach opened the scoring after a patient build-up ended with a composed finish inside the penalty area.
• Viktoria Köln equalised before the break, capitalising on a loose ball and striking quickly before the home defence could reset.
• The visitors scored what proved to be the winner in the second half, finishing off a fast counter-attack with a low effort across the goalkeeper.
• Mönchengladbach pushed late for an equaliser, but Viktoria Köln’s goalkeeper made a crucial save and the defence cleared several dangerous deliveries.

Tactical story

Mönchengladbach controlled possession for long spells, but Viktoria Köln’s mid-block made it difficult for them to find clear openings in central areas. The visitors were happy to concede the ball in less dangerous zones and then attack quickly through the channels. That game plan worked perfectly after they took the lead, as Mönchengladbach were forced to commit more players forward and leave space behind.

Standout performers

Viktoria Köln’s goalkeeper was decisive in the closing stages, while the midfield unit worked hard to screen the defence and spring counter-attacks. For Mönchengladbach, the creative players showed flashes of quality, but the team lacked the final pass and ruthlessness needed to turn possession into goals.

What the result means

The away win is a valuable boost for Viktoria Köln U19 in the GER JBH U19 standings and underlines their ability to compete against stronger possession sides. Mönchengladbach U19 will be frustrated to lose after taking the lead, but the performance offered enough encouragement to suggest they can respond quickly in their next match.
