Five goals, a late swing and a dramatic conclusion — Siegburger SV 04 emerged with a 3-2 victory at VfL Vichttal in one of the most entertaining Bundesliga 5 fixtures of the weekend.

Match Overview

From the opening exchanges it was clear that neither side was prepared to sit back. VfL Vichttal started with real intent, moving the ball quickly through midfield and testing the Siegburger back line with early crosses. Siegburger SV 04 responded in kind, and by the time the first half reached its halfway point the game had already developed into an open, end-to-end contest.

The visitors edged ahead first, finishing off a sweeping move with a strike from the edge of the box. Vichttal levelled with a goal that came straight from the training ground, and when they went ahead just after the interval the home crowd sensed a victory. But Siegburger had other ideas, equalising for a second time before snatching the winner in the closing stages.

Key Moments

• Siegburger strike first: A patient build-up ended with a composed finish to give the visitors an early advantage.
• Vichttal level: The hosts responded well, converting a well-worked set piece to restore parity.
• Home side lead: Shortly after the restart, Vichttal scored their second to take the lead and briefly take control of the match.
• Siegburger equalise again: A scrappy but crucial goal brought the visitors back into it, changing the momentum once more.
• Late winner: With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Siegburger found a third goal to steal all three points.

Tactical Story

VfL Vichttal's approach was built around getting the ball wide and delivering early, and it caused Siegburger problems throughout the first hour. Their two goals both came from moves that started in wide areas, underlining a clear and well-executed attacking pattern.

Siegburger SV 04, by contrast, were better in central areas. Their midfield trio won the battle for second balls and kept the ball moving, which eventually wore Vichttal down. The two late goals reflected a fitness and concentration advantage as much as a technical one: as the hosts tired, Siegburger's substitutes injected fresh legs and the visitors finished the stronger.

Standout Performers

Siegburger's attacking midfielder was the game's standout performer, involved in all three goals and repeatedly finding pockets of space between the lines. Their striker also deserves credit for the late winner, reacting fastest in a crowded penalty area.

For Vichttal, the wide players were a constant threat and the set-piece delivery was consistently dangerous. Their goalkeeper produced two excellent saves in the second half that kept the game alive, though he could do little about the late decisive strike.

Table and Season Impact

Wins like this build belief. Trailing with time running out and still finding a way to win says something about the character of Siegburger SV 04, and a result on the road against a direct competitor carries extra weight in a division where every point matters in the fight for position.

VfL Vichttal will feel this one deeply. Leading at home with the game entering its final phase and losing it is the sort of defeat that lingers, but the attacking quality on display suggests they will not be short of points by the end of the campaign.

Looking Ahead

Both sides now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with Siegburger looking to convert momentum into a run of form and Vichttal focused on game management — seeing out leads rather than surrendering them.
