TuS Koblenz 3-2 Sportfreunde Eisbachtal — a five-goal contest at the Oberwerth ended with the home side taking all three points, but only after surviving a stirring second-half comeback on 3 October 2026.

A thriller that swung twice

TuS Koblenz looked to be cruising at 2-0 up, controlling possession and pinning Sportfreunde Eisbachtal inside their own half for long spells. What followed was a reminder of how quickly fifth-tier German football can change: two goals in fourteen minutes dragged the visitors level, and for a while the momentum sat entirely with the team from the Westerwald.

Koblenz, one of the most storied names in the division, responded the way a club with their history should. They steadied the game, pushed the line higher and found a late winner that sent the home support into raptures.

Key moments

• 18' — Luca Weiß (Koblenz): A well-worked opener, finished first time after a cut-back from the left.
• 34' — Kevin Marx (Koblenz): The lead was doubled from the penalty spot after a foul on the edge of the six-yard box.
• 57' — Julian Reiter (Eisbachtal): A deflected strike from distance gave the visitors a foothold and changed the mood of the match.
• 71' — Marc Zimmer (Eisbachtal): A header from a corner made it 2-2 and briefly silenced the Oberwerth.
• 88' — Fabian Köhler (Koblenz): The winner, swept in from a low cross after Koblenz finally broke through a tiring defensive line.

Tactical story: control, collapse and recovery

Koblenz's first-half dominance came from patient possession and intelligent rotations in wide areas. Their full-backs pushed high, stretching Eisbachtal's midfield and creating repeated overloads. The visitors survived the opening exchanges but never fully solved the problem.

After the interval, Eisbachtal switched to a more direct approach, targeting the space behind Koblenz's advanced full-backs. It worked brilliantly for twenty minutes. The home side's midfield dropped too deep, the defensive line lost its shape, and suddenly every long ball looked dangerous.

The winning goal was built on a simple correction: Koblenz pushed their line back up, won a second ball in midfield and attacked quickly before Eisbachtal could reset. It was a scrappy, ungainly goal — and it was worth three points.

Standout performers

Marx was the driving force in midfield for Koblenz, dictating tempo and converting from the spot with confidence. Köhler's late finish was the decisive act of a match that had threatened to slip away from his side. For Eisbachtal, Reiter was the catalyst, and his strike from distance was the moment that turned a routine defeat into a genuine contest.

What it means going forward

Winning games in which you have surrendered a two-goal advantage is a valuable habit, and Koblenz will take confidence from the character shown in the closing minutes. The performance, though, exposed the same defensive vulnerability that has troubled them when they sit on leads. Eisbachtal leave with nothing, but a second-half display of that quality suggests they will collect points elsewhere this season.
