How the Match Unfolded

Meerbusch started with real intent and took the lead in the 8th minute through striker Jan-Philipp Hahn, who volleyed home after a corner was only half-cleared. Biemenhorst equalised 20 minutes later when midfielder Tom Breuer finished a counter-attack, but Meerbusch regained the edge just before half-time via a penalty converted by captain Lukas Krämer.
