SV 1898 Unter-Flockenbach hold on for narrow win over Hünfelder SV

SV 1898 Unter-Flockenbach secured a 1-0 home victory over Hünfelder SV in German Bundesliga 5 on 10 October 2026, thanks to a first-half goal and a resilient defensive performance. The hosts scored in the 34th minute and then withstood long periods of pressure to claim a valuable three points.

Niklas Weber scored the only goal of the game, finishing calmly after a quick move through midfield. Hünfelder SV responded strongly and controlled much of the possession after the break, but they found Unter-Flockenbach’s goalkeeper Tobias Lang in excellent form. The visitors pushed more players forward in the final 20 minutes, yet the home defence held firm.

Key moments

• 34th minute: Niklas Weber gave SV 1898 Unter-Flockenbach the lead with a composed finish.
• 42nd minute: Hünfelder SV’s first clear chance was blocked on the line.
• 55th minute: Tobias Lang made a strong save to deny a header from a corner.
• 68th minute: Hünfelder SV hit the side-netting after a swift counter-attack.
• 79th minute: Unter-Flockenbach cleared a dangerous free-kick from inside the six-yard box.
• 90+3rd minute: A last-ditch tackle preserved the clean sheet for the hosts.

Tactical story

Unter-Flockenbach set up to be difficult to break down, defending in a compact block and looking to spring forward on the counter. Their goal came from exactly that approach: a turnover in midfield, a sharp pass into the channel, and a reliable finish from Weber. After taking the lead, they became even more conservative, inviting Hünfelder SV onto them but leaving little space between the lines.

Hünfelder SV dominated the ball in the second half and delivered a steady stream of crosses, but they struggled to create truly clear chances against a well-drilled back line. Unter-Flockenbach’s midfield worked tirelessly to screen the defence, and when the visitors did find a way through, Lang was there to intervene. The hosts’ game management in the closing stages was impressive, as they slowed the tempo and took the sting out of Hünfelder’s late pressure.

Standout players

Weber’s match-winning goal made the difference, but Lang was equally important with several key saves. Unter-Flockenbach’s central defensive pairing also deserved credit for a disciplined clean sheet. For Hünfelder SV, the midfield playmaker tried to unlock the defence throughout and kept the pressure on until the final whistle, but the visitors lacked a finishing touch.

Table impact

The 1-0 win gives SV 1898 Unter-Flockenbach a welcome boost in German Bundesliga 5 and shows they can protect a lead against a strong opponent. Hünfelder SV will feel they deserved something from the game after controlling long spells, but they remain capable of climbing the table if they convert possession into goals. In a division where home form is often decisive, this was exactly the kind of narrow victory that can shape a season.
