SSV Jahn Regensburg II 3-1 SpVgg Weiden: Regensburg Reserves Power to Home Victory

SSV Jahn Regensburg II produced a strong attacking display to beat SpVgg Weiden 3-1 in German Bundesliga 5 on Saturday, 26 September 2026. After an early lead was cancelled out, Regensburg’s reserves scored twice more to claim a convincing home win.

Bundesliga 5 football often showcases emerging talent, and this match was a clear example. Regensburg II played with energy and confidence, while Weiden competed hard but struggled to contain their opponents’ movement in the final third.

Match Overview

Regensburg II started quickly and took the lead inside the first 15 minutes. A bright attacking move created space on the edge of the box, and a low shot found the bottom corner. The home side continued to press and looked likely to add a second.

SpVgg Weiden responded well, though. They equalised midway through the first half after a sweeping move down the right ended with a close-range finish. That goal gave Weiden belief, and the game became more balanced for the rest of the first period.

Regensburg II regained control after half-time. Their midfield began to dominate, and a well-timed run into the penalty area restored the lead at 2-1. Weiden tried to push forward for another equaliser, but Regensburg’s third goal arrived late on, sealing the victory.

Tactical Story

SSV Jahn Regensburg II played with high energy, pressing Weiden’s defenders and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. Their young midfielders were constantly on the move, creating passing options and dragging opponents out of position.

SpVgg Weiden had spells of possession and scored a well-crafted equaliser, but they could not maintain that level for the full 90 minutes. Defensively, they struggled with Regensburg’s quick combinations and were punished by late runs into the box.

Standings Impact

The win gives Regensburg II three important points and a boost to their goal difference. For a reserve side, performances like this are valuable for player development as well as the league table.

SpVgg Weiden will be disappointed with the manner of the defeat, especially after equalising in the first half. They will need a stronger defensive display in their next match to avoid slipping further in the Bundesliga 5 standings.
