SSV Bornheim claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Siegburger SV 04 in German Bundesliga 5 action on 25 October 2026, using a disciplined second-half performance to secure all three points at home. In a match that swung back and forth early, Bornheim’s ability to control the key moments after the break proved decisive.

Match overview

Bornheim began with purpose and looked the more dangerous side in the opening exchanges. Their midfield pressed aggressively, forcing Siegburg into hurried clearances, and the home side’s reward arrived when a well-worked move down the right ended with a low finish into the far corner. Siegburger SV 04 responded well, though, and grew into the contest as the first half wore on.

The equaliser came from a classic counter-attacking sequence. Siegburg won the ball in midfield, moved it quickly to the left, and produced a cross that was converted from close range. That goal changed the mood of the match, but Bornheim regrouped at half-time and came out with greater control of possession and territory.

Key moments

• Early opener: Bornheim’s right-sided attack created the first goal, with a driven cross turned in at the back post.
• Siegburg equaliser: A quick transition and a composed finish levelled the score before half-time.
• Second-half winner: Bornheim restored their lead after a spell of pressure, converting from inside the penalty area following a half-cleared set piece.
• Late save: Bornheim’s goalkeeper produced an important stop in the final minutes to deny Siegburg a share of the points.

Tactical story

Bornheim’s 4-2-3-1 shape worked well because their wide players stayed high and stretched Siegburg’s back line. The home side also pressed intelligently in the second half, winning second balls and preventing Siegburg from building sustained attacks. Siegburger SV 04 looked most dangerous when they attacked directly, but they struggled to maintain possession in the final third as the game progressed.

The decisive tactical difference was Bornheim’s control of midfield after the interval. They reduced the space between the lines, forced Siegburg wider, and ensured the visitors’ counter-attacks became less frequent. Bornheim’s central midfielder was particularly effective at recycling possession and breaking up play.

Standout players

Bornheim’s goalkeeper deserves credit for a composed performance, including the late save that protected the win. The home side’s central midfielder dictated the tempo and was central to their second-half dominance. For Siegburg, the captain led by example and was involved in the equalising move, while their forward worked tirelessly against a physical defence.

Season impact

The result gives SSV Bornheim an important three points as they look to build momentum in the German Bundesliga 5 standings. A home win of this kind can be valuable for confidence, especially in a division where consistency often separates the top half from the chasing pack. Siegburger SV 04, meanwhile, will feel they had spells good enough to take something from the game but will need to be more ruthless in the final third.
