SpVg Porz 1919 vs SSV Bornheim: Porz Secure Comfortable 2-0 Home Win in Bundesliga 5 Clash

SpVg Porz 1919 claimed a well-deserved 2-0 victory over SSV Bornheim in their Bundesliga 5 (Mittelrheinliga) fixture at the Sportpark Porz on Sunday evening. The home side produced a disciplined and efficient performance, scoring once in each half to move up the table and extend their unbeaten run on home soil.

Match Overview

Played under the floodlights in front of a lively home crowd of around 350 spectators, the match pitted two sides with contrasting ambitions. Porz, eager to climb into the upper half of the Mittelrheinliga table, started brightly and never looked back. Bornheim, known for their resilient defensive setup, struggled to contain the hosts' quick transitions and were ultimately undone by two well-worked goals.

The victory lifts SpVg Porz 1919 to seventh place, while SSV Bornheim remain in the lower half, still searching for consistency away from home.

Key Moments

The breakthrough arrived in the 23rd minute. After a patient build-up down the right, midfielder Lukas Weber slipped a clever pass into the box for striker Maximilian Kraft, who took a touch before firing low past the Bornheim goalkeeper. It was Kraft's fourth goal of the season and a just reward for Porz's early dominance.

Bornheim's best chance came just before half-time when a free-kick from the left was met by a header that clipped the top of the crossbar. That near miss proved costly, as Porz doubled their lead in the 67th minute. A swift counter-attack ended with Jonas Richter curling a shot into the far corner from the edge of the area, sealing the three points.

Tactical Story

Porz set up in a flexible 4-2-3-1 formation, with the two defensive midfielders shielding the back four and allowing the full-backs to push high. Their pressing was coordinated and forced Bornheim into frequent long balls, which the home defence dealt with comfortably. Bornheim, using a 4-4-2, tried to stay compact but were often stretched by Porz's quick switches of play.

The key battle was in midfield, where Porz's Tim Berger dictated the tempo, winning back possession and launching attacks. Bornheim's attempts to press higher after the break left gaps that Porz exploited for the second goal.

Standout Players

Maximilian Kraft was a constant threat, his movement and finishing setting the tone. Lukas Weber controlled the midfield with intelligence, while centre-back Philipp Neumann was rock-solid, winning every aerial duel. For Bornheim, goalkeeper Stefan Kruse made several fine saves to keep the score respectable.

Table and Season Impact

With this win, SpVg Porz 1919 move onto 13 points from eight matches, keeping pace with the promotion-chasing pack. SSV Bornheim remain on seven points, highlighting the need for a turnaround in away form. Next up, Porz travel to face a mid-table rival, while Bornheim host a team just above them in a crucial six-pointer.
