Hertha Zehlendorf delivered a statement performance in the German Bundesliga 5 on 11 October 2026, defeating Sparta Lichtenberg 4-0 away from home. The Berlin derby was effectively decided by Hertha’s clinical finishing and superior control in midfield, leaving Sparta Lichtenberg with a damaging home defeat.

The win strengthens Hertha Zehlendorf’s position among the division’s promotion contenders, while Sparta Lichtenberg are left to reflect on a night when they were second-best in almost every department.

Tactical Story

Hertha Zehlendorf’s 4-0 win was built on patient build-up and intelligent movement between the lines. Their midfield trio consistently found pockets of space, and their wide attackers stretched Sparta Lichtenberg’s defensive shape. Once Sparta went down to ten men, Hertha simply increased the tempo and used the extra space to create chance after chance.

Sparta Lichtenberg’s game plan relied on winning the ball high and attacking quickly, but they were unable to sustain pressure. Their defensive line dropped too deep after conceding the first goal, and the sending-off removed any realistic route back into the contest.

Standout Players

Hertha Zehlendorf’s striker Marcel Kruse was the standout performer, scoring twice and constantly threatening in behind. Winger Timo Lehmann added a goal and an assist, while goalkeeper Tobias Neumann kept a clean sheet with a composed display.

For Sparta Lichtenberg, goalkeeper Kevin Riedel made several saves to prevent a heavier defeat. Captain Daniel Wolf tried to drive his team forward from midfield, but he was often isolated as Hertha controlled possession.

Season Impact

The three points keep Hertha Zehlendorf firmly in the conversation at the top end of the German Bundesliga 5 table. Their goal difference also receives a valuable boost, which could matter in a tight promotion race. Sparta Lichtenberg, meanwhile, remain in need of points and will be concerned by the manner of this defeat, especially at home.

Hertha Zehlendorf will now aim to build on this derby win, while Sparta Lichtenberg must improve defensively and rediscover their confidence before their next league fixture.
