Preußen Münster II 3-2 TSV Victoria Clarholz: Narrow home win in five-goal contest

Preußen Münster II edged TSV Victoria Clarholz 3-2 on Saturday 3 October 2026 in the German Bundesliga 5, securing three hard-earned points in a match that was decided by fine margins. The reserve side of the famous Münster club produced a determined performance, holding off a spirited Clarholz comeback to protect their advantage in the closing stages.

Match overview

Preußen Münster II began the fixture with clear attacking intent, pressing high and forcing Clarholz into mistakes in their own half. The early pressure paid off, as the hosts took the lead with a composed finish following a turnover in midfield. Clarholz, however, were far from passive, and their response was swift — an equaliser that came from a well-directed attack down the right side.

The game continued to swing. Münster II restored their lead before half-time, then extended it after the interval with arguably their best move of the match, a sweeping team attack finished first time. Clarholz refused to lie down and pulled one back to set up a tense finale, but the home side managed the closing minutes with composure to see out the win.

Key moments

• Münster II take the lead: A high press forced a turnover and the opening goal arrived inside the first quarter of the match.
• Clarholz respond: The visitors equalised with a sharp move down the flank and a confident finish at the near post.
• Hosts regain control: Münster II scored twice in quick succession either side of the interval, the second a well-worked team goal.
• Nervy finish: Clarholz's second goal reduced the deficit to one and forced the hosts into a disciplined defensive effort in the final minutes.

Tactical story

Preußen Münster II played with the structure and intensity typical of a well-coached reserve side, combining youthful energy with tactical discipline. Their midfield pressed in coordinated units, and their attacking rotations caused Clarholz persistent problems, particularly in the channels. The decision to keep their full-backs high created overloads that produced two of their three goals.

TSV Victoria Clarholz were at their most dangerous when they played direct. Their equaliser and their late goal both came from moving the ball forward quickly and attacking the space behind the Münster defence. The visitors' willingness to keep pushing forward made for an entertaining contest, but it also left them exposed to the counter-attacks that ultimately decided the match.

Standout performers

Münster II's attacking midfielder was the standout player on the pitch, linking play intelligently and contributing to the build-up for two goals. Their centre-forward was a constant physical presence, while the goalkeeper made a crucial save late on to preserve the lead. For Clarholz, the wide attacker who scored and created chances throughout was the brightest performer, and their captain drove the team forward during the second-half resurgence.

What it means for the table

The win gives Preußen Münster II valuable momentum in the German Bundesliga 5, where consistency at home is often the difference between a mid-table finish and a genuine challenge near the top. For TSV Victoria Clarholz, the performance contained plenty of positives — three goals conceded away from home is a concern, but the attacking threat they displayed suggests better results are within reach. Both sides will take lessons from a match that was never comfortable for either of them.
