Tactical story

Phonix Lubeck B used a 4-3-3 formation, with their full-backs pushing high to support attacks. This created chances but also left space for Union Neumunster to exploit on the counter. Union’s 4-2-3-1 shape allowed them to press in midfield and launch quick breaks, and they targeted the space behind the Phonix defence throughout.

Both managers made attacking substitutions in the second half, and the game became increasingly open. The defensive lapses on both sides were a theme, but the attacking quality made it a thrilling spectacle for the neutral. The late equaliser came from a well-delivered cross that was converted at the back post.

Standout players

Phonix Lubeck B’s attacking midfielder was the creative force, involved in two of their goals. Their striker worked tirelessly and scored the late equaliser. For Union Neumunster, the centre-forward caused problems all evening, scoring one and assisting another. Both goalkeepers made important saves, even though they each conceded three times.

What the result means

The draw adds a point to both teams’ tallies in the German Bundesliga 5. Phonix Lubeck B will be pleased with their attacking display but disappointed with their defensive mistakes. Union Neumunster will take confidence from their resilience and goal-scoring form. In a league where every point matters, this six-goal draw could be remembered as one of the season’s most entertaining fixtures.
