FSV Fernwald secured a convincing 2-0 away victory over KSV Baunatal in German Bundesliga 5 action on 24 October 2026, combining disciplined defending with two well-taken goals either side of half-time.

Fernwald started the match with a clear plan: press Baunatal’s midfield, force errors, and attack quickly through the channels. The visitors were rewarded in the 23rd minute when Jonas Weigel arrived late in the box and side-footed a low cross beyond the goalkeeper. Baunatal tried to respond immediately, but their possession lacked penetration and Fernwald’s back line held firm.

Match overview

The second goal arrived in the 67th minute and effectively settled the contest. Marco Reuter received the ball on the edge of the area, shifted onto his stronger foot, and curled a precise effort into the far corner. Baunatal pushed more players forward in the final 20 minutes, but Fernwald managed the game expertly, slowing the tempo and limiting clear chances. The clean sheet was a fair reflection of the visitors’ control.

Key moments

• 23’ — Jonas Weigel opens the scoring for FSV Fernwald.
• 39’ — Baunatal’s best chance of the first half is blocked inside the box.
• 67’ — Marco Reuter doubles the lead with a curling finish.
• 82’ — Fernwald goalkeeper claims a dangerous cross to preserve the shutout.

Tactical story

Baunatal saw plenty of the ball but struggled to break down a compact Fernwald block. The away side defended in a narrow 4-4-2 out of possession, forcing Baunatal wide and then winning the second ball. When Fernwald regained possession, they transitioned quickly, with Weigel and Reuter combining effectively between the lines. Baunatal’s full-backs pushed high in search of an equaliser, but that only created more space for Fernwald to counter into.

Standout players

Weigel was influential throughout, not only for his goal but also for his pressing and link-up play. Reuter’s second-half strike highlighted his quality in tight spaces, while Fernwald’s centre-back pairing produced a composed, physical display. For Baunatal, the goalkeeper made several good saves, but the attacking unit lacked the final pass.

Season impact

This away win adds valuable momentum to Fernwald’s campaign and gives them a strong defensive platform to build on. Baunatal remain with work to do after a home defeat in which they failed to convert territorial control into clear chances. In a competitive German Bundesliga 5 table, clean-sheet victories on the road can prove especially important.
