Tactical story

TSB Flensburg set up in a compact 4-2-3-1 and were happy to invite pressure before striking through the channels. Their midfield duo protected the back four well, and the front three repeatedly targeted the space behind Kaltenkirchener’s advanced full-backs. Kaltenkirchener, using a 4-3-3, controlled possession for long periods but lacked the final pass and were exposed whenever they lost the ball in central areas.

Standout performers

Petersen was the clear difference-maker for TSB Flensburg, scoring twice and leading the line with intelligent movement. Carstens also impressed with his energy and link-up play, while the Flensburg centre-back pairing dealt well with Kaltenkirchener’s second-half crosses. For the home side, Stehr was the brightest attacking outlet, and the goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the scoreline respectable.

Season impact

The three points strengthen TSB Flensburg’s away record in the German Bundesliga 5 and keep them in touch with the leading group. Kaltenkirchener remain in search of consistency and will need to turn possession into clearer chances if they are to climb the standings. The result underlines the value of efficiency in a division where fine margins often decide matches.
