Grossbardorf 4-3 SSV Jahn Regensburg II: Seven-goal classic decided late

Grossbardorf edged SSV Jahn Regensburg II 4-3 in a remarkable Bundesliga 5 encounter on October 24, 2026, with a late winner settling a match that swung wildly from end to end. The hosts led twice, were pegged back twice, and finally found the decisive goal in the closing stages of a breathless contest.

For neutral supporters, it was the most entertaining match of the round. For both coaching staffs, it was a defensive performance to review with frustration.

Match overview

Grossbardorf began with aggressive intent, pressing Regensburg II’s young back line and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The hosts played a direct 4-4-2, looking to win second balls and attack quickly through the channels. Regensburg II, fielding a youthful starting XI, tried to play out from the back but were repeatedly unsettled by the home side’s intensity.

The opening exchanges set the tone: within the first twenty minutes there were three clear chances, two corners, and a goal. Neither defence looked comfortable, and both midfields struggled to screen the back four.

Key moments

• 8 minutes: Grossbardorf took the lead when Jonas Weiß finished a low cross from close range.
• 19 minutes: Regensburg II equalised through Elias Bauer, who curled a fine effort into the far corner.
• 31 minutes: Grossbardorf restored their advantage as Tim Hoffmann headed in from a corner.
• 54 minutes: Regensburg II made it 2-2 after a swift counter-attack ended with a composed finish.
• 66 minutes: Weiß scored his second of the night to put Grossbardorf 3-2 ahead.
• 78 minutes: A defensive mix-up allowed Regensburg II to equalise again at 3-3.
• 88 minutes: Hoffmann grabbed the winner with a powerful strike from the edge of the box.

Tactical story

This was a match defined by transitions rather than control. Grossbardorf’s direct approach created chances but also left them exposed when possession broke down. Regensburg II’s young side showed excellent energy and attacking courage, but their defensive naivety cost them at key moments.

Grossbardorf’s decision to push their wingers narrower in the second half created overloads in the box. That adjustment produced the third goal and the late winner. Regensburg II will regret failing to manage the final ten minutes, when their back line dropped too deep and invited pressure.

Standout players

Weiß was central to Grossbardorf’s attacking threat with two goals and constant movement. Hoffmann delivered the decisive contribution and led the line with authority. For Regensburg II, Bauer was the standout performer, combining a goal with several dangerous runs. Their goalkeeper made two excellent saves despite conceding four.

What the result means

The win gives Grossbardorf a valuable three points in the Bundesliga 5 table and reinforces their reputation as one of the division’s most entertaining sides. Regensburg II remain a work in progress, but their attacking display suggests they will cause problems for other teams. On this evidence, both sides will be involved in more high-scoring matches before the season is out.
