FV Ravensburg and SSV Reutlingen 05 played out a 0-0 draw in the German Bundesliga 5 on October 24, 2026, in a hard-fought contest that was short on goals but not on commitment. The final score was a fair reflection of a match in which both defences held the upper hand and clear chances were at a premium.

Match overview

The home side, FV Ravensburg, started with intent and tried to impose themselves early, using the width of the pitch to stretch SSV Reutlingen 05. Reutlingen, however, were well organised without the ball and gradually grew into the game. The visitors pressed in midfield and forced Ravensburg into a number of hurried passes, turning the contest into a scrappy battle for territory.

As the first half wore on, the game settled into a pattern of cautious possession and quick turnovers. Neither team was able to sustain pressure for long periods, and the goalkeepers were rarely tested despite plenty of effort in the middle third. The best moments came from set-pieces and second balls, but the final delivery or finish was missing.

Key moments

FV Ravensburg’s best chance of the opening period arrived when a cross from the right found a forward in the box, but the header was directed straight at the goalkeeper. SSV Reutlingen 05 responded with a dangerous counter-attack, only for the final shot to be blocked by a recovering defender. Those two moments summed up the first half: promising build-up, but no end product.

After the break, Reutlingen began to press higher and forced Ravensburg into a series of clearances. The home side remained dangerous on the break, though, and a quick move down the left ended with a low cross that was cleared at the near post. In the closing stages, both teams pushed for a winner. Ravensburg sent more players forward, while Reutlingen looked to hit on the counter. A late free-kick for Ravensburg was headed over, and Reutlingen’s final attack ended with a shot from distance that sailed wide.

Tactical story

Both sides prioritised defensive security in this German Bundesliga 5 encounter. FV Ravensburg defended with a relatively deep line and looked to deny space behind the defence, while SSV Reutlingen 05 pressed in midfield to disrupt the home side’s rhythm. That pressing made it difficult for Ravensburg to play through the middle, forcing them to go longer than they might have liked.

Reutlingen’s best work came when they won the ball in advanced areas and moved it quickly to the flanks. However, their crossing was inconsistent, and Ravensburg’s centre-backs dealt well with most of the aerial threat. Ravensburg, meanwhile, looked most dangerous when they could turn defence into attack quickly. The lack of a decisive final pass ultimately cost both teams the chance to take all three points.

Standout performers

FV Ravensburg’s goalkeeper produced a composed display, claiming crosses confidently and making one important save in the second half. The home side’s central defenders were also strong in the air and read the game well. For SSV Reutlingen 05, the midfield anchor was influential in breaking up play and starting attacks, while the centre-back pairing remained disciplined throughout. It was a match defined by defensive organisation rather than individual brilliance in the final third.

Season impact

The draw gives both teams a point to build on, though each will feel they could have pushed harder for a winner. For FV Ravensburg, the clean sheet is a positive foundation, but the lack of goals remains a concern. SSV Reutlingen 05 will take encouragement from a solid away performance and another shutout. In a competitive German Bundesliga 5 campaign, points away from home are always valuable, and Reutlingen will view this as a useful result even if the performance lacked a cutting edge.
