FV Ravensburg 1-3 Nottingen: Clinical Visitors Take the Points in Bundesliga 5 Clash

Nottingen produced one of their most convincing away performances of the season on Saturday, 10 October 2026, beating FV Ravensburg 3-1 in their German Bundesliga 5 fixture. A dominant first-half display and two goals inside a decisive twenty-minute spell either side of the interval gave the visitors a cushion that the home side never seriously threatened to overturn.

For Ravensburg, it was a frustrating evening: plenty of possession, a handful of promising moments, but a defensive brittleness in transition that Nottingen punished ruthlessly. In a division where the top half is separated by only a few points, dropping three at home is the kind of result that can shape a season.

Match Overview

Ravensburg began brightly, moving the ball quickly through midfield and asking questions of the Nottingen back line with crosses from both flanks. The early pressure produced half-chances but no clear breakthrough, and that failure to convert proved costly. Nottingen absorbed the pressure, grew into the game, and struck on the break with a goal that completely changed the complexion of the contest.

From that moment, the visitors looked the more assured side. Their second goal, arriving shortly before half-time, gave them a platform to control the second period, and although Ravensburg pulled one back to briefly restore belief, Nottingen restored their two-goal advantage and managed the closing stages with composure.

Key Moments

• Opening goal: Nottingen's breakthrough came against the run of play, a quick counter finished with a composed strike into the bottom corner.
• The turning point: A second goal minutes before the interval left Ravensburg with a mountain to climb and Nottingen in complete control.
• Lifeline: The hosts halved the deficit after the restart, converting a well-delivered set piece with a powerful header.
• Killer blow: Nottingen's third goal, scored as Ravensburg pushed bodies forward, ended any realistic hope of a comeback.

Tactical Story

Nottingen's approach was disciplined and effective. They defended in a compact block, invited Ravensburg to play in front of them, and then attacked with pace the moment possession was regained. Their wide players repeatedly found space in behind, and the speed of their transitions was the single biggest difference between the two teams.

Ravensburg's problems were structural. With their full-backs committed to the attack, they left themselves exposed to exactly the kind of direct, vertical football Nottingen thrive on. Their midfield struggled to win second balls, and the absence of a genuine holding presence allowed the visitors to run at the defence far too easily.

Standout Players

Nottingen's forward line shared the plaudits, with the striker who opened the scoring leading the line intelligently and the wide men stretching the pitch all evening. Their goalkeeper also contributed two important saves at 1-0 and again at 3-1, moments that kept the scoreline from becoming a nervous one.

For Ravensburg, the goalscorer was the bright spot on an otherwise disappointing night, and their captain drove the team forward admirably in the second half. But too many individual errors in defensive areas undermined an otherwise committed collective performance.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Nottingen's position in the upper reaches of the Bundesliga 5 table and reinforces their reputation as one of the division's most dangerous counter-attacking teams. Ravensburg, meanwhile, remain a work in progress, capable of controlling matches for long periods but vulnerable when the game opens up.

Both clubs will take lessons from the night. Nottingen showed exactly how effective ruthless finishing can be on the road; Ravensburg were reminded that in this league, dominance of possession counts for little without the defensive discipline to protect it.
