FV Ravensburg produced one of the most convincing performances of their German Bundesliga 5 campaign so far, beating 1. FC Mühlhausen 3-1 on Sunday evening in front of a vocal home crowd. Three goals in a dominant spell either side of half-time settled the contest, and although the visitors pulled one back, the hosts were never seriously troubled thereafter.

Match Overview

Ravensburg set the tone from the opening minutes, pressing high, winning the ball in the opposition half, and getting numbers into the box at every opportunity. Mühlhausen initially tried to match their hosts in an open, end-to-end opening, but as the first half progressed the balance of the game tilted firmly towards the home side.

The scoreline told the story of a team in control: quick passing combinations in wide areas, aggressive runs from midfield, and a defensive line that squeezed the pitch and left the visitors with very little room to build.

Key Moments

• 14th minute: Ravensburg take the lead, a drilled low finish from the edge of the area after a short corner caught Mühlhausen napping.
• 38th minute: A second goal arrives from a sweeping move down the left, finished calmly at the back post.
• 52nd minute: Mühlhausen halve the deficit with a well-taken header from a right-sided cross, briefly raising hopes of a comeback.
• 67th minute: Ravensburg restore the two-goal cushion, converting a penalty after a foul inside the box.
• 84th minute: A superb one-handed save keeps the hosts' two-goal lead intact as Mühlhausen push bodies forward.

Tactical Story

The defining feature of the match was Ravensburg's pressing structure. Their front two worked in tandem to cut off the central pass, funnelling Mühlhausen's build-up towards the touchline, where the trap was sprung. Three of the hosts' best chances came directly from turnovers won in these areas.

Mühlhausen's goal was a reminder of their threat from set-piece and crossing situations, and for ten minutes after it they looked the more confident side. But Ravensburg's response — a sustained spell of possession capped by the penalty — demonstrated the maturity of a team that has learned how to manage momentum within a match.

Standout Performers

Ravensburg's left-sided attacker was the game's most dangerous player, involved in two of the three goals and constantly stretching the visiting defence. The central midfielder who won possession high up the pitch repeatedly set the tempo, while the centre-back pairing dealt comfortably with everything thrown at them in the closing stages. For Mühlhausen, the goalscorer and the goalkeeper were the standout contributors on a difficult evening.

Season Impact

This was more than a routine home win. Three goals and three points strengthen Ravensburg's position in the upper reaches of the German Bundesliga 5 table and, just as importantly, reinforce a style of play that is producing results. Mühlhausen will leave with lessons about defending transitions, though their second-half response showed there is enough quality in the squad to climb away from trouble.

What's Next

Ravensburg travel next weekend hoping to reproduce this level of intensity away from home, while Mühlhausen face a home fixture that already looks significant in the context of their season. Both sides will have plenty to work on in training this week.
