FSV Optik Rathenow produced a dominant 5-0 home victory over FC Anker Wismar in German Bundesliga 5 on Saturday, 24 October 2026, delivering one of their most complete performances of the season. A blistering first-half display set the tone, and Rathenow never relented, adding two more goals after the break to complete a statement win.

Match overview

Rathenow were on the front foot from the first whistle. They took the lead in the 7th minute when their striker latched onto a through ball and finished confidently. The home side doubled their advantage in the 23rd minute after a slick passing move ended with a low cross converted at the back post. It became 3-0 in the 41st minute when a defensive error was punished ruthlessly.

The second half brought no respite for Anker Wismar. Rathenow’s No. 9 completed his hat-trick with goals in the 58th and 78th minutes, both finished with composure inside the penalty area. Wismar tried to regroup and had brief spells of possession, but they were unable to contain Rathenow’s movement and intensity. The clean sheet capped an excellent afternoon for the hosts.

Key moments

• 7th minute: Rathenow open the scoring with a clinical through-ball finish.
• 23rd minute: A flowing team move doubles the lead.
• 41st minute: Rathenow punish a defensive mistake to make it 3-0 before half-time.
• 58th minute: The home striker scores his second of the match.
• 78th minute: A composed finish completes the hat-trick and the 5-0 rout.

Tactical story

Rathenow’s high pressing suffocated Wismar’s attempts to play out from the back. The home midfield won second balls consistently, and the front three rotated well to create space in behind. Wismar’s back line was stretched throughout, and their attempts to push forward after the break only opened more gaps. Rathenow’s intensity and ruthlessness in front of goal were the defining features of the match.

Standout players

The Rathenow No. 9 was the obvious headline-maker with a hat-trick, but the performance was built on a strong midfield display and a commanding centre-back partnership. The goalkeeper was largely a spectator but distributed well to launch attacks. For Wismar, the afternoon was one to forget, though their goalkeeper made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat.

Season impact

The emphatic win gives FSV Optik Rathenow a significant boost to their goal difference and confidence in German Bundesliga 5. It also sends a warning to their promotion rivals. FC Anker Wismar must regroup quickly, as defensive errors and a lack of attacking threat left them exposed. Rathenow will look to build on this performance in their next fixture.
