FC Teningen secured a 2-1 victory over TSV Essingen in the German Bundesliga 5 on 19 September 2026, with a late surge sealing all three points in a tense evening clash. The 21:30 kick-off delivered a closely fought contest that underlined the competitive nature of the fifth tier.

Match Overview

FC Teningen started the match with energy and purpose, pressing TSV Essingen high and forcing errors in the visitors’ build-up. Their early pressure was rewarded when they took the lead with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box. Essingen, however, were not rattled and gradually worked their way back into the game.

The equaliser came before half-time, a reward for Essingen’s improved possession and willingness to attack down the flanks. At the break, the match was finely balanced, and both managers would have felt the next goal would be decisive.

Key Moments

• Teningen opener: A crisp finish after a high turnover caught Essingen’s defence out of shape.
• Essingen equaliser: A low cross from the right was converted at the near post, bringing the visitors level.
• Winning goal: Teningen regained the lead in the second half with a powerful header from a corner, sending the home crowd into celebration.
• Late defence: Essingen pushed bodies forward in the final minutes, but Teningen’s back line stood strong.

Tactical Story

Teningen’s 4-3-3 formation allowed them to dominate the middle third early on, but Essingen adjusted by dropping their wingers deeper to create overloads out wide. The tactical battle swung back and forth, with both teams creating chances from set-pieces. Teningen’s decision to introduce fresh legs in midfield midway through the second half proved crucial, as it helped them regain control and protect the lead.

Essingen will be disappointed with the manner of the winning goal, as they failed to pick up the runner from the corner. Despite their late pressure, they lacked the final ball to find an equaliser.

Standout Players

Teningen’s centre-back was a rock at the back, winning headers and making timely interceptions. Their goalscorer, who netted the winner, showed excellent movement in the box. In midfield, the captain set the tone with his work rate and passing.

For TSV Essingen, the left winger was a constant threat, beating his marker repeatedly and providing the assist for the equaliser. Their goalkeeper made several fine saves to keep the scoreline close.

Table and Season Impact

The win lifts FC Teningen in the German Bundesliga 5 standings and gives them confidence ahead of a demanding run of fixtures. For TSV Essingen, it is a frustrating defeat, but their performance showed they can compete with the teams around them. In a league where every point counts, Teningen’s ability to grind out narrow victories could prove invaluable by the end of the campaign.
