FC Eddersheim 2-1 Hummetroth: Late Winner Seals Hard-Fought Bundesliga 5 Victory

FC Eddersheim claimed a dramatic 2-1 victory over Hummetroth in the German Bundesliga 5 on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Sportpark am Wäldchen. A late goal from substitute Lukas Brandt secured all three points for the hosts after Hummetroth had fought back to level the scores in the second half.

The match, played under the floodlights in front of a lively home crowd, was a typically competitive fifth-tier encounter, full of physical duels and quick transitions. Eddersheim started brightly and took the lead in the 23rd minute when top scorer Marco Reinhardt latched onto a through ball and slotted past the visiting goalkeeper.

Key Moments

• 23' – Marco Reinhardt opens the scoring for Eddersheim with a composed finish.
• 58' – Hummetroth equalise through a header from a corner, silencing the home support.
• 84' – Substitute Lukas Brandt scores the winner with a low drive from the edge of the box.
• 90+3' – Eddersheim goalkeeper Jonas Weber makes a crucial save to preserve the win.

Hummetroth's equaliser came against the run of play, but it sparked a period of pressure from the visitors. Eddersheim's defence, marshalled by captain Timo Schuster, held firm before Brandt's late intervention.

Tactical Story

Eddersheim set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, looking to exploit the wings with overlapping full-backs. Hummetroth responded with a compact 4-4-2, aiming to hit on the counter. The hosts dominated possession (58%) but struggled to break down a stubborn backline until Brandt's introduction added fresh legs in the final third.

Hummetroth's goal came from their only corner of the second half, a reminder of their set-piece threat. However, Eddersheim's midfield duo of Kevin Lang and Daniel Fischer regained control in the closing stages, allowing the home side to push for the winner.

Standout Players

Marco Reinhardt was a constant menace, scoring his fifth goal of the season. Lukas Brandt made an instant impact from the bench, while goalkeeper Jonas Weber produced a vital late save. For Hummetroth, centre-back Philipp Neumann was impressive despite the defeat.

Season Impact

The win lifts FC Eddersheim to sixth in the Bundesliga 5 table, keeping them in touch with the promotion play-off places. Hummetroth remain in mid-table, but their spirited performance suggests they will be a tough opponent for anyone this season. Eddersheim next face a tricky away trip to SV Alemannia Waldalgesheim, while Hummetroth host TSV Schott Mainz.
