Eintracht Stadtallendorf edged Bayern Alzenau 1-0 in a tightly contested German Bundesliga 5 match on 24 October 2026. Jonas Schmidt’s second-half header proved the difference in a game short on clear chances but high on tension. Stadtallendorf’s defensive organisation and set-piece quality earned them all three points, while Alzenau were left frustrated after a late push failed to produce an equaliser.

Match overview

The first half was a cautious affair, with both teams prioritising shape and avoiding unnecessary risk. Stadtallendorf looked to build patiently through midfield, while Alzenau were content to defend in a compact block and threaten on the break. Clear openings were rare. The home side’s best moments came from wide deliveries, and it was no surprise that the decisive goal arrived from a set piece.

Key moments

• First half: Both sides struggled to create clear chances, with midfield battles dominating.
• 58th minute: Jonas Schmidt headed home a corner to give Eintracht Stadtallendorf a 1-0 lead.
• Late pressure: Bayern Alzenau pushed forward in the final 15 minutes but could not find a finishing touch.
• Final whistle: Stadtallendorf held on for a narrow but valuable home win.

Tactical story

Stadtallendorf’s victory was built on patience and defensive discipline. They did not force the game unnecessarily and were happy to move the ball side to side while waiting for Alzenau to lose their shape. The breakthrough came from a corner, underlining the importance of set pieces in a match where open-play chances were limited. After taking the lead, Stadtallendorf dropped slightly deeper and invited pressure, but their back line remained organised. Alzenau’s best route back into the game was through crosses and second balls, yet the home defence dealt with those threats effectively.

Standout performers

Jonas Schmidt’s match-winning header made him the obvious hero for Stadtallendorf. His timing in the box and ability to attack the delivery were decisive. The home goalkeeper also played a key role with a late save, while the centre-back pairing managed the game calmly during Alzenau’s pressure. For Bayern Alzenau, the midfield effort was commendable, but the lack of a clear cutting edge in the final third proved costly.

What it means

The three points give Eintracht Stadtallendorf a solid platform and reinforce their reputation as a difficult side to break down at home. Bayern Alzenau will feel they deserved something from the game, but narrow defeats often come down to the quality of decisive moments. In this case, Stadtallendorf’s set-piece execution was the difference between one point and three.
