DJK TuS Hordel claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over TuS Hiltrup in German Bundesliga 5 (Oberliga Westfalen) action on Sunday evening, turning around an early deficit at their Bochum home ground to secure three valuable points in a tightly contested mid-table clash.

Match Overview

The meeting between the two Westphalian clubs offered everything expected of a fifth-tier fixture between well-matched sides: intensity in the duels, an organised defensive structure on both sides, and a deciding moment that only arrived in the closing stages.

TuS Hiltrup, the visitors from Münster, started the better of the two teams and took the lead, but Hordel's response after the interval was emphatic. Two second-half goals, the winner arriving late, flipped the result and handed the home side a result that will feel significant as the campaign develops.

Key Moments

• Hiltrup strike first: The visitors opened the scoring with a well-constructed move, working the ball into space on the edge of the area before finding the bottom corner.
• Hordel level after the break: The equaliser came shortly after half-time, a set-piece routine that was only half-cleared before being lashed home from close range.
• Momentum shifts: With the crowd behind them, Hordel pushed higher up the pitch and began winning second balls consistently in midfield.
• The winner: Hordel completed the turnaround in the final quarter of the game, a quick break down the left ending with a composed finish across the goalkeeper.
• Late resistance: Hiltrup threw bodies forward in the closing minutes and forced a series of corners, but Hordel's defence held firm.

Tactical Story

Hiltrup's opening period was built on disciplined possession football. Their midfield trio controlled the tempo, and by pulling Hordel's wingers inside, they created room for their full-backs to overlap and deliver into the box. The early goal was a fair reflection of that control.

Hordel's manager responded by tightening the midfield and instructing his side to press more aggressively after the restart. The change worked almost immediately. Hordel began winning the ball higher up the pitch, and their equaliser came from exactly that kind of turnover — a hurried clearance that was punished instantly.

From that point the game became a test of nerve. Hiltrup struggled to regain their first-half rhythm, while Hordel grew in confidence, committing more players forward and eventually finding the decisive goal on the counter-attack.

Standout Players

Hordel's midfield anchor was arguably the man of the match, breaking up play repeatedly and setting the tempo for the comeback. The goalscorers deserve credit for their composure, but the improvement in the home side's second-ball work was the foundation of the win.

For TuS Hiltrup, the goalkeeper produced two excellent saves to keep the score level at 1-1, and the attacking midfielder who opened the scoring was the visitors' most creative outlet throughout. Their inability to convert late pressure into an equaliser will be the main frustration.

Season Impact

Three points lift Hordel's momentum in the Oberliga Westfalen standings and reinforce their reputation as a difficult team to beat at home. Winning matches in which you trail is a marker of a squad with genuine character, and this result will do plenty for confidence in the dressing room.

Hiltrup, by contrast, are left to reflect on a game they controlled for long periods without converting that control into a result. In a division where away points are hard-earned, letting a lead slip will sting — but the performance itself offered enough positives to suggest better results are close.

What's Next

Both sides now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with Hordel looking to build a run of form and Hiltrup eager to turn promising displays into wins. In the crowded, competitive landscape of the German fifth tier, matches like this one often prove decisive when the final table is drawn up in May.
