Chlodwig Zulpich 4-3 VfL Vichttal: Seven-goal thriller ends in home joy

Chlodwig Zulpich edged VfL Vichttal 4-3 in a remarkable German Bundesliga 5 encounter on 20 September 2026, winning a match that swung one way and then the other. The hosts looked in control early, but Vichttal's fightback set up a tense finish before Chlodwig found the late winner.

Match overview

Chlodwig Zulpich began at a high tempo and raced into a two-goal lead, with their front line pressing Vichttal's defenders into mistakes. Vichttal pulled one back before half-time and then made it a one-goal game again early in the second half. The visitors even equalised at 3-3, but Chlodwig found one final moment of quality to claim all three points in a seven-goal classic.

Key moments

• 9th minute: Chlodwig opened the scoring with a close-range finish after a mistake at the back.
• 27th minute: A curling strike from the right made it 2-0.
• 44th minute: Vichttal reduced the deficit with a header from a cross.

Tactical story

Both teams prioritised attack over caution. Chlodwig's 4-4-2 looked to get crosses into the box early, while Vichttal's 4-2-3-1 caused problems with runners from deep. Defensive errors were frequent, but the game was thrilling because both midfields struggled to screen the back four. In the end, Chlodwig's direct approach and set-piece delivery made the difference.

Standout players

The Chlodwig No. 9 was central to the win, scoring twice and occupying both centre-backs. Their right winger provided constant width and assisted the late winner. For Vichttal, the No. 10 was excellent in the comeback, while their striker's movement caused problems throughout. Both goalkeepers were busy, even if the scoreline suggests a difficult night for the defences.

Table and season impact

The victory gives Chlodwig Zulpich momentum in the German fifth-tier campaign and rewards their attacking ambition. VfL Vichttal leave with nothing despite scoring three away goals, a frustrating outcome that highlights their defensive vulnerabilities. Both sides will know that tighter defending is needed if they are to climb the table consistently.
