BTS Neustadt 3-4 Brinkumer SV — Brinkumer SV won a remarkable seven-goal contest at BTS Neustadt on 17 October 2026, with Jannik Meyer scoring four times in a 4-3 victory in German Bundesliga 5.

Match overview

This was an end-to-end game that exposed both defences but produced compelling entertainment. Brinkumer led early, BTS Neustadt fought back to level at 3-3, and the visitors found a late winner to take all three points. The match was decided by Brinkumer’s ruthlessness in front of goal and BTS’s inability to protect a high defensive line.

With seven goals in 90 minutes, the contest rarely settled into a slow rhythm. Both teams pressed high and looked to attack directly, creating a series of chances from turnovers and quick transitions.

Key moments

• 7’ — Brinkumer take the lead: Jannik Meyer finds space at the near post and converts a low cross.
• 18’ — BTS equalise: Timo Kruse reacts quickest to a rebound and slots home.
• 35’ — Meyer restores the lead: A quick counter ends with a composed finish from the edge of the box.
• 49’ — BTS level again: Kruse scores his second after a defensive mix-up.
• 62’ — Meyer completes his hat-trick: He beats the offside trap and finishes one-on-one.
• 71’ — BTS make it 3-3: Kruse completes his own hat-trick with a header from a corner.
• 88’ — Brinkumer win it: Meyer scores his fourth, arriving late to turn in a cross at the far post.

Tactical story

Brinkumer’s direct approach worked because BTS Neustadt defended with a high line and struggled to track runners from midfield. Meyer’s movement between the centre-backs was the standout feature of the match, and Brinkumer repeatedly found him with early diagonal passes.

BTS responded well in attack, with Kruse’s hold-up play bringing others into the game. However, their attempts to push for a winner in the final ten minutes left them exposed at the back, and Brinkumer punished them with the decisive late goal.

Standout players

Jannik Meyer was the obvious match-winner with four goals, showing excellent positioning and composure. Timo Kruse kept BTS in the contest with a hat-trick of his own. Brinkumer’s midfield also deserved credit for the speed with which they turned defence into attack.

Season impact

The away win is a significant result in the fifth-tier campaign and gives Brinkumer SV valuable momentum. For BTS Neustadt, the defeat highlights the need for greater defensive compactness, especially when the game becomes open. The result also adds another high-scoring chapter to what is proving a competitive Bundesliga 5 season.
