Tactical Story

Merani Martvili set up in a 4-3-3 formation, looking to use width and overload the flanks. However, Sioni Bolnisi's 4-2-3-1 shape initially frustrated the hosts, with the visitors compact in midfield and quick to break. After conceding, Merani adjusted their build-up play, pushing their full-backs higher and committing more bodies forward. The equaliser came from a set-piece routine, and from that point on, the home side controlled the tempo. Sioni retreated deeper, and Merani's persistence paid off when Japaridze found space in the box to score the winner.

Standout Players

Beka Varduashvili was a towering presence in the air and his header changed the momentum of the match. Luka Japaridze was the creative spark for Merani, and his late goal capped a fine individual performance. In defence, Giorgi Abashidze made several crucial interceptions to keep Sioni at bay in the second half. For Sioni, Giorgi Kiknadze was the standout performer, causing problems with his direct running and clever movement.

Season Impact

The victory moves Merani Martvili up the Erovnuli Liga 2 table and strengthens their push for a top-half finish. FC Sioni Bolnisi will be disappointed to have let a lead slip, and they remain in the lower reaches of the standings, needing to turn promising performances into points. Merani will take confidence from this comeback as they prepare for their next fixture, while Sioni must regroup quickly to avoid slipping further adrift.
