Neom SC delivered a commanding performance to rout Shab Hadramawt 4-0 in the GCC Champions League on October 14, 2026. In front of a passionate home crowd at the Neom Sports City Stadium, the Saudi side produced a four-star display that underlined their title credentials.

Match Overview

The GCC Champions League group stage encounter saw Neom SC, one of the rising forces in Gulf football, take on Yemeni outfit Shab Hadramawt. The match kicked off at 2:00 AM local time, but the early hour did not dampen the atmosphere, with 12,500 fans in attendance. Neom SC, backed by significant investment, fielded a strong lineup featuring several international players. Shab Hadramawt, known for their defensive resilience, were expected to provide a stern test, but they were blown away by Neom's attacking firepower. Referee Ahmed Al-Kaf managed the game calmly.

Key Moments

Neom SC needed just five minutes to open the scoring. A quick corner was worked short, and the cross was met by a towering header from captain Faisal Al-Harbi. The second goal arrived on 23 minutes when star winger Saud Al-Dosari danced past two defenders and squared for Majed Al-Otaibi to tap in. Neom made it 3-0 on 51 minutes with a penalty converted by Al-Otaibi after a foul in the box. The fourth goal on 78 minutes was the pick of the bunch, a 25-yard screamer from substitute Abdullah Al-Johani. Shab Hadramawt had no answer and never really threatened.

Tactical Story

Neom SC lined up in an attacking 4-3-3, with their full-backs pushing high and the front three interchanging fluidly. Shab Hadramawt set up in a defensive 5-4-1, hoping to frustrate their hosts and hit on the counter. However, Neom's relentless pressing and quick ball movement overwhelmed the Yemeni side. The midfield trio of Al-Otaibi, Al-Dosari, and Al-Harbi controlled the game, winning back possession almost at will. Neom's coach emphasised width and overlapping runs, which stretched Shab Hadramawt's backline and created space for crosses and cut-backs. Defensively, Neom were barely tested, keeping a comfortable clean sheet.

Standout Players

Saud Al-Dosari was unplayable, scoring one and assisting another with a dazzling display of dribbling and vision. Captain Faisal Al-Harbi led by example, scoring the opener and marshalling the defence. Majed Al-Otaibi was a constant threat and converted his penalty with confidence. For Shab Hadramawt, goalkeeper Ali Al-Hadrami made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat, while defender Mohammed Ba Wazir never stopped working.

What It Means

The emphatic win puts Neom SC firmly in control of their GCC Champions League group, sending a clear message to their rivals. For Shab Hadramawt, it is a chastening defeat that leaves their qualification hopes hanging by a thread. Neom SC will now look ahead to their next continental fixture with confidence, while Shab Hadramawt must regroup quickly to keep their campaign alive. The result also boosts Neom's goal difference, which could prove crucial in the group standings.
