Rouen FC U19 6-2 Quevilly US U19: Hosts Run Riot in Youth League Derby

Rouen FC U19 produced a ruthless attacking display to beat Quevilly US U19 6-2 in the French U19 Youth League on Sunday evening. A dominant first-half performance laid the foundation for a comprehensive victory, and although Quevilly showed spirit with two second-half goals, Rouen’s firepower proved far too much.

The win is a statement result for Rouen’s youth academy, highlighting the depth and quality in their attacking ranks. For Quevilly, it was a difficult night defensively, but their response after the break at least gave the scoreline a more respectable look.

Match overview

Rouen started with intensity and never let Quevilly settle. Their high press forced turnovers in dangerous areas, and their wide players looked to attack the full-backs at every opportunity. By the time the first half ended, Rouen had scored four unanswered goals, with their movement and finishing proving too sharp for Quevilly’s defence.

Quevilly improved after the interval, scoring twice to briefly raise hopes of a comeback. But Rouen responded immediately on both occasions, restoring their authority and adding two more goals of their own. The match finished with Rouen’s substitutes still pushing forward, a sign of the team’s confidence and hunger.

Tactical story

Rouen’s 4-3-3 was aggressive and fluid. The front three rotated constantly, making it difficult for Quevilly’s defenders to pick up runners. The midfield trio won the ball back quickly and played forward with purpose, turning defence into attack in seconds. Quevilly’s 4-2-3-1 struggled to cope with the pace of the game, especially in the first half.

After the break, Quevilly pressed higher and found some joy, scoring two well-worked goals. But Rouen’s response was clinical. Their ability to score immediately after conceding killed any momentum Quevilly had built. The final scoreline reflected the hosts’ superior quality in the final third.

Standout players

Rouen’s centre-forward was outstanding, scoring twice and linking play intelligently. The left winger tormented his marker all evening, while the central midfielder controlled the tempo and set up several attacks. For Quevilly, the goalkeeper made a number of saves to prevent an even heavier defeat, and the free-kick scorer showed good technique. Their captain never stopped encouraging his teammates, even as the goals piled up.

Table impact

The emphatic win strengthens Rouen FC U19’s position near the top of the French U19 Youth League and sends a warning to their rivals. Quevilly US U19 will need to regroup quickly, particularly defensively, but the two second-half goals offer something to build on. For Rouen, the challenge now is to maintain this level of ruthlessness in the weeks ahead.
