Quevilly Rouen Métropole edged US Orléans 3-2 in a five-goal French Championnat National thriller on Saturday 17 October 2026, with a late winner settling a contest that swung back and forth at Stade Robert Diochon.

Quevilly Rouen Métropole, commonly known as QRM, built a two-goal advantage before Orléans fought their way back into the match. The home side’s ability to find one final attacking moment proved decisive in a game that kept both sets of supporters engaged until the closing stages.

Match overview

QRM started brightly and controlled the opening quarter of an hour, moving the ball with purpose through midfield and creating overloads on the flanks. Their reward arrived midway through the first half, and when they doubled the lead before the interval, the home crowd sensed a comfortable evening.

US Orléans had other ideas. The visitors improved after the break, pressing higher and finding space between QRM’s midfield and defence. Two goals brought them level and transformed the atmosphere, but QRM regrouped and found a late winner that sent them home with all three points.

Key moments

• 18th minute: QRM opened the scoring after a flowing move down the left, finished with a composed strike from the edge of the box.
• 34th minute: The hosts doubled their lead from a set-piece, with a header powered past the Orléans goalkeeper.
• 51st minute: Orléans pulled one back after a sustained spell of pressure, converting a cross from close range.
• 73rd minute: The visitors equalised with a well-taken goal on the counter, briefly stunning the home support.
• 88th minute: QRM found the winner through a late attacking surge, turning in a low cross at the back post.

Tactical story

QRM’s attacking plan relied on quick switches of play and getting their full-backs high up the pitch. In the first half, that approach stretched Orléans and created space for midfield runners. The home side’s pressing also forced several turnovers in dangerous areas, leading to the opening two goals.

Orléans adjusted after the break, moving their midfield line higher and committing more bodies forward. That change gave them a foothold and produced two goals, but it also left them vulnerable to late counters. QRM’s decision to keep an attacker high in the closing minutes paid off when the winning goal arrived.

Standout performers

QRM’s attacking midfielder was central to their best moments, linking play and finding pockets of space between the lines. The home side’s set-piece delivery was also a constant threat, while the substitute who provided the late assist made an immediate impact.

For Orléans, the forward line showed real resilience in dragging their team back into the contest, and their goalkeeper made a string of saves to keep the deficit manageable. In the end, however, the visitors were undone by a late lapse in concentration at the back.

Season impact

The victory gives Quevilly Rouen Métropole a timely boost in the Championnat National standings and reinforces their reputation as a side capable of scoring heavily at home. US Orléans will take encouragement from their comeback but will be frustrated to leave empty-handed after fighting back from two goals down.
