Le Puy Foot 43 Auvergne 4-1 Villefranche: Hosts Deliver Statement Win in Championnat National

Le Puy Foot 43 Auvergne produced one of the most impressive attacking displays of the Championnat National season so far, thrashing Villefranche 4-1 at the Stade Charles Massot on Saturday 19 September 2026. The hosts were ruthless in front of goal, scoring four times in a dominant performance that underlined their promotion ambitions.

From the first whistle, Le Puy played with intensity and purpose. They pressed high, moved the ball quickly, and repeatedly opened up a Villefranche defense that struggled to cope with the pace of the game. By the time the final whistle blew, the scoreline could have been even more emphatic.

Match Report

Le Puy took the lead in the 12th minute when Mehdi Baaloudj latched onto a through ball and finished confidently. The striker doubled his tally in the 55th minute, but by then Le Puy were already in control. Rayan Souici made it 2-0 in the 38th minute with a powerful strike from outside the box after a cleared corner.

Villefranche briefly threatened a comeback when Rémi Sergio pulled one back in the 70th minute, but any hopes of a revival were short-lived. Le Puy restored their three-goal cushion in the 81st minute when Joris Moutachy turned in a cross at the back post. The hosts managed the closing minutes comfortably, denying Villefranche any further clear chances.

Tactical Analysis

Le Puy dominated with 61% possession and 18 shots, 10 of which were on target. Their high press forced Villefranche into repeated turnovers in dangerous areas, and the front three combined beautifully throughout. Villefranche, by contrast, managed only seven shots and struggled to sustain any attacking pressure after Sergio’s goal.

The hosts’ set-piece work was also a feature. Souici’s goal came from a half-cleared corner, and Moutachy’s late finish arrived from a recycled delivery. Defensively, Le Puy were organized and aggressive, limiting Villefranche to mostly speculative efforts from range.

Standout Performers

Mehdi Baaloudj was the obvious star with two goals and constant movement in the box. Rayan Souici controlled midfield and capped his display with a fine goal. Joris Moutachy’s energy on the flank created problems all evening. For Villefranche, Rémi Sergio’s goal was a rare bright moment on a difficult night.

Standings Impact

This victory pushes Le Puy Foot 43 Auvergne firmly into the promotion conversation in the Championnat National. Their goal difference received a significant boost, and the performance sent a warning to the rest of the division. Villefranche, meanwhile, remain in the lower half of the table and must address their defensive vulnerabilities quickly if they are to climb away from trouble.
