LA Saint-Colomban Locmine claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Avranches in the French Championnat National 2 on September 19, 2026. A single second-half goal was enough to separate the sides in a match defined by defensive discipline and limited clear-cut chances.

Match Overview

Locmine started brightly in front of their home supporters, pressing Avranches high and forcing early corners. However, the visitors’ back four held firm, and the first half ended goalless despite Locmine’s territorial advantage. Avranches grew into the game after the break but were undone by a moment of quality just before the hour mark.

The only goal arrived in the 67th minute when Locmine’s winger cut inside from the left and curled a shot into the far corner. Avranches pushed for an equalizer, introducing fresh legs in attack, but Locmine’s defense remained compact and resolute until the final whistle.

Key Moments

• 22’ – Locmine chance: A free-kick from 20 yards forced a diving save from the Avranches goalkeeper.
• 51’ – Avranches warning: A header from a corner flashed just wide of the post.
• 67’ – Locmine goal: A cutting run and precise finish broke the deadlock.
• 84’ – Avranches pressure: A goalmouth scramble ended with a block on the line as Locmine survived.

Tactical Story

Locmine set up in a compact 4-4-2, looking to deny Avranches space between the lines. Their midfielders worked in tandem to close down passing lanes, forcing the visitors into wide areas where crosses were easily cleared. Avranches, playing a 4-3-3, struggled to create through the middle and became predictable in the final third.

The winning goal came from a deliberate switch of play. Locmine’s full-back overlapped, drew two defenders, and laid the ball back for the winger to curl home. It was a rare moment of incision in an otherwise cagey contest. Avranches’ manager will rue his team’s lack of penetration, especially after enjoying more possession in the second half.

Standout Players

Damien Leclerc was Locmine’s match-winner, his goal a combination of balance and technique. Yannick Morin anchored the midfield with timely interceptions and calm distribution. For Avranches, center-back Thomas Renault was outstanding in defense, winning numerous aerial duels, but his efforts were undone by the team’s attacking struggles.

Season Impact

This victory gives Locmine a valuable three points and lifts them into a more comfortable position in the Championnat National 2 standings. Avranches, meanwhile, remain in the lower half and will need to find goals quickly if they are to climb away from danger. The narrow margin shows just how competitive this level of French football can be.
