Bayonne secured a composed 2-0 away victory over Dinan Lehon FC in the French Championnat National 2 on Sunday, 18 October 2026. Goals in either half were enough for the visitors, who defended intelligently and punished their hosts with two well-timed attacking moves.

Dinan Lehon enjoyed plenty of the ball but struggled to turn possession into clear chances. Bayonne’s disciplined shape and quick transitions proved decisive, handing them a valuable three points on the road and leaving the home side frustrated.

Match overview

The home side began with purpose, pushing their full-backs forward and looking to create overloads on the flanks. Bayonne, however, were content to sit in a compact 4-4-2 mid-block and wait for mistakes. That strategy worked well: Dinan’s possession was often sideways, and the visitors’ front two were able to press the centre-backs into hurried passes.

Bayonne took the lead just after the half-hour mark and then managed the game expertly. Dinan increased their tempo after the interval, but the away side’s defensive discipline held firm before a second goal effectively settled the contest.

Key moments

• 31st minute – 0-1 Bayonne: Mathieu Larrieu intercepted a loose pass and drove forward before finishing low into the bottom corner.
• 58th minute – 0-2 Bayonne: Thomas Daguerre headed home from a corner, rising above his marker at the near post.
• 71st minute – Dinan pressure: Antoine Leroy forced a diving save from Hugo Larralde with a curling effort from distance.
• 84th minute – Late block: Julien Etchegaray produced a vital interception to deny Dinan a consolation goal.

Tactical story

Bayonne’s victory was built on defensive organisation and efficient use of the ball. Their midfield stayed compact, forcing Dinan into wide areas where crosses were comfortably dealt with by the centre-backs. When Bayonne won possession, they looked to attack quickly through the channels, and both goals came from moments of sharp decision-making.

Dinan Lehon’s 4-3-3 lacked penetration in the final third. Their wingers were often isolated, and the central striker received little service. The home side’s best spells came from set pieces, but Bayonne’s goalkeeper and defence stood strong.

Standout players

Larralde was excellent in goal, making important saves at key moments. Etchegaray marshalled the back line with authority, while Larrieu’s energy and direct running gave Bayonne an outlet throughout the match. For Dinan, Leroy was the brightest attacking spark but lacked support.

Season impact

Bayonne’s away form continues to strengthen their position in the National 2 table, and this result will boost belief ahead of a demanding run of fixtures. Dinan Lehon, meanwhile, must find a way to convert possession into goals if they are to climb the standings.
