Bastia Borgo produced a commanding home performance in the French Championnat National 2 on Sunday, 18 October 2026, defeating Colmar 3-0 at Stade Paul-Antoniotti. The Corsican side blended aggressive pressing with ruthless finishing, scoring once before half-time and twice after the break to claim a thoroughly deserved three points.

The victory underlined Bastia Borgo’s growing authority in the fourth tier and gave their promotion push fresh momentum. Colmar, by contrast, struggled to cope with the home side’s intensity and were left with plenty to address after a long afternoon.

Match overview

Bastia Borgo set the tone inside the opening quarter-hour. Their midfield pressed high, forcing Colmar into hurried clearances and creating repeated turnovers in dangerous areas. The home side’s 4-2-3-1 shape allowed their wide players to stay high, while the double pivot controlled the central spaces and recycled possession quickly.

Colmar tried to respond through a 4-3-3 system, but their full-backs were frequently exposed when Bastia Borgo switched play. The visitors enjoyed brief spells of possession but rarely threatened the home goalkeeper, and their best moments came from set pieces rather than open play.

Key moments

• 18th minute – 1-0 Bastia Borgo: Mathieu Santoni arrived late in the box to convert a low cut-back from Julien Marchetti, finishing first-time into the corner.
• 41st minute – 2-0 Bastia Borgo: Pierre-Louis Orsini doubled the lead with a towering header after a precise cross from the right.
• 52nd minute – Colmar’s best chance: Lucas Meyer forced a smart save from Antoine Filippi with a driven effort from the edge of the area.
• 67th minute – 3-0 Bastia Borgo: Substitute Kevin Battesti sealed the win on the counter-attack, calmly rounding the goalkeeper before rolling the ball home.

Tactical story

The match was decided by Bastia Borgo’s control of the middle third. Santoni and his midfield partner consistently won second balls, allowing the home side to sustain pressure without leaving themselves open at the back. When Colmar did break forward, the home defence stepped up smartly to catch the visitors offside or force them sideways.

Colmar’s attacking plan became increasingly direct as the game wore on, but that played into the hands of Bastia Borgo’s centre-backs, who dominated the aerial duels. The visitors also struggled to close down crosses, and two of the three goals came from wide areas.

Standout players

Orsini was a constant handful, combining physical presence with intelligent movement, while Santoni dictated the rhythm and capped his display with the opening goal. Battesti made an immediate impact from the bench, and Filippi’s second-half save preserved the clean sheet at a stage when Colmar briefly threatened a comeback.

Season impact

The three points lift Bastia Borgo into the upper half of the National 2 table and strengthen their case as genuine promotion contenders. For Colmar, the defeat leaves them searching for consistency, particularly away from home, and adds pressure to their next fixture.
