Angouleme came from behind to earn a hard-fought 2-1 victory over JA Le Poire Sur Vie in the French Championnat National 2 on Sunday, 18 October 2026. A second-half winner from Yanis Benali settled a competitive contest at Stade Camille-Lebon and gave the hosts another valuable home result.

The visitors had taken an early lead and defended it with discipline for much of the first half, but Angouleme’s improved width and sharper pressing after the interval turned the game in their favour. The win keeps the home side in touch with the promotion-chasing group, while Le Poire Sur Vie were left to rue a missed opportunity.

Match overview

JA Le Poire Sur Vie started brightly and disrupted Angouleme’s rhythm with a compact 4-4-2 block. The visitors pressed in short bursts and looked dangerous on the counter, often targeting the space behind Angouleme’s advanced full-backs. That approach paid off in the 23rd minute when Enzo Giraud struck from just inside the box after a quick turnover.

Angouleme responded well to the setback. Their midfield began to find pockets of space between the lines, and captain Maxime Delaunay became increasingly influential. The home side’s equaliser arrived shortly before half-time, and from that point on they looked the more likely winner.

Key moments

• 23rd minute – 0-1 Le Poire Sur Vie: Enzo Giraud capitalised on a loose ball and drove a low finish beyond Lucas Marchand.
• 44th minute – 1-1 Angouleme: Maxime Delaunay converted from the penalty spot after a handball was spotted inside the area.
• 63rd minute – Crucial save: Le Poire goalkeeper Baptiste Renard denied Angouleme’s striker from close range to keep the score level.
• 78th minute – 2-1 Angouleme: Yanis Benali curled a composed finish into the far corner after cutting in from the left.

Tactical story

Angouleme’s first-half performance was patient but lacked penetration. After the break, they pushed their wingers higher and asked the full-backs to overlap more aggressively, which stretched Le Poire’s defensive line. The switch to a more direct attacking approach also helped the hosts win second balls around the penalty area.

Le Poire Sur Vie defended deep after taking the lead but were eventually worn down. Their counter-attacking threat faded as the game progressed, and Angouleme’s midfield trio controlled the final half-hour with calm possession and intelligent rotation.

Standout players

Benali was the difference-maker, offering direct running and a decisive final touch. Delaunay led by example in midfield and showed composure from the penalty spot, while Renard’s second-half save kept Le Poire in the contest until the closing stages.

Season impact

The three points give Angouleme renewed confidence and keep them within striking distance of the leading pack. For JA Le Poire Sur Vie, the defeat highlights the need for greater resilience when protecting a lead, and they remain in a battle to climb away from the lower reaches of the table.
